Report means confirmation of exit and another ‘situation vacant’ at West Ham United

It seems this transfer was at the players’ behest, after he asked to leave the club and was subsequently  left out of West Ham United’s visit to Turf Moor on Sunday.

Having started West Ham’s Carabao Cup clash the week before, few would have expected Edson Alvarez to be heading for the exit door after it was widely reported that Nuno planned to use him this year and that ‘El Machin‘ had had something of a rethink and was up for the fight.

However from reports today it seems certain that the Mexican International is in the process of sealing an exit from the club he joined in 2023.

According to sportsview.co.uk, a deal is imminent:

“Real Sociedad nearing deal to sign Edson Alvarez from West Ham:

Real Sociedad are close to reaching a full agreement to sign West Ham United defensive midfielder Edson Alvarez, according to transfer reporter Matteo Moretto.

Direct talks between the Spanish club and the 28-year-old Mexican international have progressed significantly in recent days.

Edson Alvarez nears the exit door

Alvarez has demonstrated his commitment to the transfer by agreeing to a significant wage reduction to fit within Real Sociedad’s salary structure. He has also formally requested that West Ham sanction his departure.”

Quite what the deal will be regarding loan or permanent sale aren’t yet published but West Ham are hardly likely to stand in Alvarez’ way if the prospect of getting his still £50,000 a week wages off the books crystallises.

“With personal terms not an issue and Alvarez keen to finalise the move, Real Sociedad and West Ham are working to iron out the final details.”

Without Alvarez, Potts and the injured Tomas Soucek, West Ham will suddenly find themselves dangerously light in resources in defensive midfield: Hopefully something which they will rectify in the last two weeks of the window.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Why’s everyone getting so down about selling players that got us relegated!!
We need to regroup and should have employed a new manager preseason !

At least everyone on here can’t blame DS for this seasons transfers !

This is just going from bad to worse.
Disasi and now Alvarez maybe Magassa.
Potter never did wave his magic wand perhaps Koppen can look into his crystal ball.
Will he have this many chosen ones for replacements.
Needs to start earning his money and look further afield than Scotland.
Disasi leaving it this late shows no appreciation to whu.

After the portsmouth game everyone on here was saying hes a liability a red card in waiting now hes going you all say the clubs got this wrong. Im all for bringing on our youngsters but Freddie Potts to me didnt seem good enough nor callum marshall on the other hand i think we can sort the defence by bringing young golambeckis in to start and drop kilman because while kilman is there mavropanos and scarles cant trust him and are trying to second guess his next mistake take kilman out take the pressure off the other two and instant improvement the only other thing i would change and this will probably be controversial play taty deeper to link to an out and out centre forward in pablo to just concentrate on h8s scoring

The story we were asked to believe about keeping the squad together doesn’t seem to be the case, the exits of the higher wage earners was an understandable initiative, so why did Freddie Potts go? Surely he would be a starter in the position we now find ourselves. I looked at the comments and issues of the Prague supporters and this seems to be Groundhog Day. I feel that dropping to League 1 or lower will devalue the shares to a level where they can be bought with pocket money. Really saddened by the transfer window so far and hoping to be proved wrong.

With only one guy handling transfers and 2 weeks left in the transfer window we might soon be a super rich club but playing in League one!

But we need a centre half where he plays for mexico . I think the season ticket holders have been properly duped….. again

West Ham have been a poorly run club for years
Look at their assets yet they got relegated . They pretend to be a big club but they are no where near Arsenal, Chelsea or even Spurs the way they are run. Neither are they as good as Brentford or Palace
Millwall may even prove themselves to be much better this season

  • Romeo Fordeo says:

Gutted we sold Freddie Potts now.
Proper Hammer who would not have let us down

  • Hammeroo says:

And another one gone, and another one gone. Another one bites the dust! I just hope Jarrod Bowen sticks around despite what’s going on, or rather what’s not going on, with the club at the moment. There is too much uncertainty with ownership and also with Nuno.

Sad days isnt it Martin Hate to admit I was wrong but I dont think we would have sold as many under Sullivan plus at least he spent a few Bob bringing in one or two elite players it really feels this board has taken us for a ride once they got our ticket money Maybe the takeover from the other party has a lot to do with it
