Following on from the failure to land Troy Parrott, news that West Ham’s prime defensive target has rejected – once and for all – a move to the Championship will be disheartening for Nuno, for the rest of the team and for supporters.
Axel Disasi has, at last, apparently, got off the fence and decided that his future is not linked to that of West Ham, as he’s turned down a move back to the now championship- based Hammers.
Which leaves Nuno with a huge problem.
Reports yesterday suggesting that West Ham won’t be bolstering the back line seem fanciful, with Todibo also on his way out, leaving only Mavropanos and Kilman as first team starters.

problems all through the squad for Nuno Espírito Santo
Seeing how poorly the duo combined on Sunday as Burnley came from two goals down to draw, scoring twice in the last ten minutes in an only too familiar defensive debacle, West Ham have no choice but to act to bolster their centre back strength.
Having staked all on bringing Disasi back to the London Stadium, West Ham have just two weeks to resurrect their list of targets – headed by the £20 million-rated Taylor Harwood Bellis or Cardiff’s Dylan Lawlor – as covered by ExWHUEmployee a month ago – and get a deal over the line before 2nd September.
Stumping up the cash for either could leave West Ham with a £20 million – sized problem, for nobody is convinced any more that the club has the necessary funds in place for that kind of purchase, especially after the Hammers walked away from the Troy Parrott negotiations when the price hit those heights.
I am concerned selling everyone we can and not having replacements . We can’t claim wee don’t have money for Parrott we should go get him. As for defence we look shaky with Kilman we are in deep S… without a CD as good as Disasi . This is not taking time and getting recruitment right it’s the opposite messing it all up and panic buying . We need reinforcements all over what are we doing ?
Absolute joke we are…..somethings never change.
Can someone please explain to me how Kilman couldn’t even make the bench fir the last couple of months of last season yet this season he is our number 2 central defender ?
Its absolutely shocking recruitment from all involved in getting players in,to honestly think Disasi would drop down to the Championship what a joke,we have wasted so much time on will he wont he when all along everybody knew he was never going to come….
We should of had replacements in place already and signed up by the club before the season even started……I dont believe anything that comes out of the club…..we will struggle to make the play offs this year…..then again maybe we have found our true level now
I thought we had a £25m offer for Disasi accepted so it should follow that those funds are now available for an altenative? Looks like Diouf and AWB are going for around £60m so we really have no excuse not to be very active in the market now. I would assume that the ask for Parrott was alot more than £20m otherwise it seems crazy that we are paying only around £5m less for Piroe. Still think things will work out ok in the end but the uncertainty is a killer.
To be honest playing pragmatic defensive football low block with kilman fills me with dread , kretinsky told us we don’t need to sell to buy once Fernandes and Summerville were sold , since then Potts 10 million Alvarez maggassa diouff leaving a bench so weak it’s littered with under 23 , with this squad under Nuno we will be mid table by Christmas we cann,ot play low block with these players and survive , what copping has brought to this club is a mystery, fans deserve to know what is really happening especially after being lured with what now seems like lies about keeping the baulk of the squad when reality it’s nowhere near it and I can see the rest pushing to leave in January
“Having staked all on bringing Disasi back to the London Stadium”
I’m pretty sure they haven’t
Martin like yourself I have watched us since 1967.
Home and away from 1976 up until we went to the London Stadium.
Three points I would question you on though.
Did we walk away from the Troy Parrot deal or was it a case of he didn’t want to sign
Likewise the same thing with Disasi
Whilst I agree Kilman and Mav together doesn’t work they wasn’t at blame for both goals
Scales was the culprit for the penalty which passed the initiative to Burnley which ultimately cost us 3pts
I think Dissasi was waiting to see how we did against Burnley. When he saw that Nuno has’nt learned anything from being relegated. He thought thats enough for me, I’m off elsewhere. Can’t blame the bloke.
Kretinsky and the board need to see that Nuno is unable to change.
Appointment is needed very soon!
Whilst I have thought the decision to hang on to see if Disasi would come back was worth the risk of 9 points and a place in the 3rd round of the EFL, I just wonder…..
Has Disasi chosen not to come back because of Nuno’s negative tactics on Sunday ?

If it’s obvious that Kilman and Mav are unable to form a good partnership then why did Nuno insist on inviting pressure? The answer, one trick pony springs to my mind.
