Reports on Ben Arfa, Marcelo and Bernard

|

Reports that West Ham reportedly eyeing up PSG outcast Hatem Ben Arfa are unlikely. The free agent spent several seasons in the Premier League with Newcastle. The 31-year-old attacking midfielder is currently playing a French amateur team earning just £700 per month with £18 goal bonus. Claret and Hugh understand there was previous interest in the former PSG man but that has since cooled.

New reports from Europe have also emerged suggesting that West Ham made a second bid of €25 million (£22.21m) Lyon Defender  Marcelo. Claret and Hugh understand there was some interest in the 31-year old centre-back earlier in the Summer and a bid was put in but that interest was ended after signing Diop and Balbuena. Lyon allegedly wanted €31m for their defender.

Finally reports in Brazil have linked the Hammers to 25-year-old free agent Bernard suggesting Chelsea will pip West Ham to his signing.  Again Claret and Hugh have been told our interest in the player finished earlier this summer.

Bernard’s agent Adriano Spadoto caused speculation on social media earlier this month when he posted photos inside the London Stadium. However, Spadoto was at the Stadium as part of team Anderson as the Brazilian completed his deal.

Club insiders admitted they approached Bernard’s representatives in June but were quoted £200,000 a week for the player so quickly cooled their interest.
