Excited sources and Hammers fans alike are busy unearthing the detains of the proposed deal to allow top-quality defensive target Jean Clair Todibo to join West Ham United from Nice.

The Juventus target has been captured, apparently, undergoing a medical today prior to joining the East London club.

David Ornstein from the Athletic  has confirmed this morning what Gonzo reported last night: The 24 year old centre back is set to join having earlier in the transfer window been quoted as preferring a move to Juventus. He was also the subject of considerable interest from Manchester United before this was ruled out owing to UEFA’s guidance on deals between clubs of shared or the same ownership.

The deal which has apparently been agreed is an initial loan but importantly with an option to buy (next Summer we think) the 1.90 metre right-footed centre back who will be a perfect fit for Lopetegui’s new look defensive threesome. According to Sky Sports the price agreed for next summer’s purchase option is £35 million.

Ornstein also reports that ‘personal terms have been agreed with the player’ so there is unlikely to be a last minute derailment on that front: The planned sale of Kurt Zouma no doubt frees up £120,000 a week plus of wages which would be enough to make most non – premier league players sit up and take notice.

I have my fingers completely crossed on this one: Fair to say that since Gonzo broke the news on ‘Claret and Hugh’ last night there have been only 100% positive comments: Pretty much -along with Cyrencio Summerville – the only unanimously welcomed signing this window! There. Nothing like a bit of positivity for a Fab Friday.

My only concern – and I’m sure our management has it covered off- is that Nice and Manchester United don’t use this year-long loan to engineer a move from one INEOS side to another: I hope Hammers’ loan to buy option precludes Nice deciding to cut us off after a year and move their player to Man U whilst skirting around UEFA club shared ownership rules. Memo To Tim Steidten!

Like everyone else, lifelong WHU fan and season ticket holder in old BMU stand at Upton Park from 2003. Billy Bonds these days with my adult son and impatiently waiting for my Grandson to be old enough to initiate him before his mum grabs him for Man U. All opinions are my own very biased ones.

    Big love

  • Neil Down Under says:

Fantastic window so far! And could there be more?
I can see this being a good season, but it’ll be several games for the players to adopt to Loppy’s system of play and each other.
Can see us having a few nervy games.
I live this feeling of excitement before a new season.

  • It’s the hope that kills you says:

To be fair to him, Turin is pretty close to Nice, so Juve would keep him living in the same, let’s admit it, pretty nice, part of the world. It’s not like he’d prefer to go to Newcastle or Everton or ManUre. But let’s hope he comes to us, he’s a great player. Crossing fingers.

just a decent right back & hopefully some deadwood out & who knows perhaps another striker in

  • Matt says:

We can unanimously agree it’s been a much transfer window without Moyes!

Be careful what you wish for 😂😂😂😂

This is exactly what we wished for! Decisiveness in the transfer market. Getting deals done, no dithering and securing players in the required positions.

    No names 🤫

Unfortunately zouma knees have gone, he been mostly good for us but this is a definite upgrade

  • John Sharp says:

Has all the attributes of a young Rio Ferdinand and even looks rather like him.

Hopefully he will form a formidable partnership with Max.

I hope Kurt Zouma gets his move for his sake and ours.

as a 7decade supporter it seems like WH have finally joined ‘the big boys’. Super new football director, inspires and talks football logic. Only 10 days ago nerves starting to quiver but now WOW. My best summer transfer period ever. We must allow JLo time to settle down

  • John Sharp says:

What pleases me is that West Ham look to have beaten Manchester United and Juventus to his signature.

A few years ago these two clubs were part of a group that wanted to form an elite
European Super League, only for their own outraged supporters to scupper the idea.
The thought that mighty Juventus did not have enough money in their piggy bank to complete the deal is quite amusing.

    • Martin Treasure says:

Manchester United were advised not to proceed – UEFA’s rules regarding player transfers & club ownership, John, I think, they’re both part INEOS owned

  • Jonpaul Appleyard says:

We can sell him to Manure or Juve for double the fee in a few years time

    • rollercoaster hammer says:

why would he go to them when we’re whipping their arses in the PL and CL in 2yrs time? 😁

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

He would have to be sold to us before Man Utd could buy.

I would expect us to have him for a minimum of 2 years and if there is a sell on clause as reported it’s likely that if we do sell it will be with a handsome profit which is all good for us.
