Robert Snodgrass shows the way with his generosity

|

Hammer Robert Snodgrass has shown his generosity by personally donating £3,000 to the Isla Caton fund. The fund is just over £200,000 shy of their £600,000 target as Isla continues to receive specialist treatment in Barcelona.

Hopefully, his donation might be a catalyst for other West Ham players, many of which earn more than Snodgrass to put their hands in their pockets to help the plucky little West Ham fan in her desperate quest for survival.

Questions have been asked whether the club itself should do more, West Ham Chairman David Sullivan made a personal donation of £5,000 some time ago and the club added a further £20,000 to the fund earlier this year as part of a deal with West Ham Groups United to call off a planned March before the Burnley game.

News that West Ham could give a £250,000 voluntary donation to Premier League chairman Richard Scudamore’s £5m retirement fund has been met with horror while the Isla Caton remains short.

In 2016 Everton donated £200,000 to the cause of brave Sunderland fan Bradley Lowery who suffered from the same illness as Isla Caton. Maybe each Premier League club could donate £10,000 each to the Isla Caton fund to quickly reach the target. Maybe Hammers Vice-Chairman Karren Brady can suggest that at the next PL meeting to prove cancer has no colours. It would be a great show of unity and do a lot to deflect any fury over the £5m bonus that Scudamore is reportedly set to receive.

I give those guys with the buckets money every time I go to the game, bravo to them for collecting every match day and good luck in getting to the target !!!

Excellent idea Sean. However they are probably frightened to set a precedent. And making Scudamore’s affluent lifestyle even more opulent is, no doubt, more important to them.
