West Ham to raid Ajax for the third time this season

West Ham United are reportedly considering a move for Steven Bergwijn, a former winger for Tottenham Hotspur, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano. The Italian journalist stated, “I Understand Steven Bergwijn is one of the top targets for West Ham in the January transfer window in case they will be able to find budget after outgoings.”

Manager David Moyes is believed to be eager to acquire a versatile winger rather than a striker during the January transfer window.

Bergwijn could move from Ajax to West Ham

Steidten and West Ham are ready to raid Ajax again

Bergwijn’s tenure at Tottenham had mixed results, leading to his return to the Netherlands with Ajax in 2022. His time in Amsterdam has proven more successful, evident in his impressive statistics of 12 goals and five assists in 32 league appearances last season. Despite Ajax’s current standings, Bergwijn’s individual performance remains robust, with seven goals and two assists this season. Romano adds, “More Premier League and Saudi clubs are also keen on Bergwijn as he could leave Ajax in case of a good offer.”

West Ham is actively seeking to sell both Said Benrahma and Maxwel Cornet, but there have been no offers for a permanent transfer for either. With Mohammed Kudus currently at the African Cup of Nations and Michail Antonio injured, The Hammers will need reinforcements urgently.

The Irons have a couple of weeks off before facing Sheffield United on January 21st. One would hope that any necessary transfer activity will have been completed by then.
