With the dizzying pace of todays departures, anyone would think there’s a transfer deadline day in sight as West Ham shoehorned the departure of two players into the same day.
Malick Diouf and James Ward Prowse were both announced as ‘Ex Hammers’ today following the sale of both players – illustrating how fast West Ham can move if required.

However that seems confined to player sales.
Bringing in new recruits in seems another matter- take lunchtime’s news that West Ham were hoping to being in Chelsea’s young wing back Caleb Wiley but the defender had been nabbed by competitors Preston North End and announced a couple of hours later.
And so another one bites the dust.
West Ham do seem to have the ability to sell at a lightning pace but that speed then deserts them over talent acquisition as bids go in, second bids go in and then – silence descends, as Matt alluded to earlier in the week.
Whether it be lack of funds or indecision at the top, the Hammers have, through their own lack of urgency, just four days to sort out the signing of a left back (urgent) a centre back (equally urgent) a winger (urgent ) and a midfielder (arguably the least urgent). and I’ll bet there aren’t too many fans who are holding out hopes of even two from that ‘essentials’ shopping list arriving before Tuesday night.
I’m struggling to understand why we make such a fuss about employing a head of recruitment and then don’t recruit any decent players.

Maybe West Ham fear not getting back to the PL this season and are holding onto funds to support next season’s finances.

We were in a £190m debt plus all the money we would have owed due to the nature of what we owed, we have addressed that with the sales, we have also bought Piroe and Solomon and am guessing the cupboard is bare, DK is probably saving the money to pay for the shares from Vanessa Gold.
On the subject of young wing backs what the hell happened to the Utd kid Harry Amass and if we are going to spend we should be paying for Ostbo 20 – 25m, Viking turned down £15m for him last year and he has improved since then, he is a player that could offer great sell on potential.
The board are a joke honestly so many sales and plenty of funds to buy . We are in desperate need of all players you mention bit please no more slow players with no sell on value.

umm we can’t be beaten to someone unless we wanted them and they were willing to come to us Martin , we can’t buy everyone that is mentioned in the same breath as the name of our club in any and every online report or media post , the fact that any player goes to another club other than the Irons doesn’t necessarily mean that we were beaten to them , it is also able to mean that we didn’t want them or they didn’t want us or the circumstances involved in our or their requirements were not aligned or even that their parent club did not want them to come to us , just a thought mate x
