West Ham have been linked with a move for Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna over the last 24 hours.
The former Manchester United and Tottenham coach was reported to have attended the Hammers’ 3-0 defeat to Spurs at the weekend as a guest of the West Ham board.
There has been no confirmation or denial of the rumour from any London Stadium source, but the prospect of McKenna leaving Ipswich for East London was dismissed by Claret & Hugh’s transfer source yesterday.
McKenna would find it difficult to thrive under the current West Ham ownership
And to make matters worse for West Ham, a former Hammer gave his blunt view on the story when speaking to C&H off the record this morning:
“McKenna won’t go near the West Ham job as things are. He has a growing reputation and the club is in disarray behind the scenes. He’d be mad to go there.”
The 39-year-old, described by John Barnes as a “sensational” tactician, won plaudits for his work at Ipswich despite relegation from the Premier League last season.
The ex-Hammer, who is also carving out a coaching career, delivered one final cutting assessment:
“Plenty of people will be interested in the job, but any young coach would find it tough with the owners and the interference behind the scenes.”
Ouch.

How is he a sensational technician? Did you not see last years performances. In a side including Delap,Hutchinson and a few other bright projects they won 4 games. Old, old fashioned (in the worst way), unprofessional. Sullivan is a dinosaur that needs to relinquish control. Now.
Potter is clueless and has no future at the club but what is the point in sacking him now when the same people will recruit the next manager. They have now failed with the last 5/6 appointments. Sullivan is unlikely to sell but hopefully the upcoming protests will make him realise that he needs to take a back seat. Then employ a director of football , a director in charge of recruitment and a coach to manage the team. We have no future until we stop running the club with amateurs

Not sure how good a tactician he is Ipswich are hardly setting the Championship alight. Go for someone that is doing it at PL level with a team that’s punching above their weight, Palace and Bournemouth spring to mind.
It won’t make any real difference who the manager is with Sullivan pulling all the strings and the lies that he tells to justify himself no manager can manage a squad as they would need to. Given how things are with the way the club is run why would any manager want to join us apart from the no hopers so while Sullivan is in charge we are more or less fu-ked
