Shocking Irons have no excuses

|

Cardiff City 2 Irons 0

It would be easy to write that off and start talking about bad days at the office.

But I’m not having that – there were no excuses for yet another horrible display against so called lesser opposition on an afternoon when we allowed ourselves to be dominated by a team third off bottom at the start.

Okay, after a dreadfully slow start we took control having gone a goal behind but wasn’t great control and we never created any serious chances despite a quite deplorable attempt by Hernandez to win a penalty with a horrible dive.

That’s one he’s got through handball and a yellow card for faking it. Basically he’s a cheat and it’s not what I want to see from any player on my team.

Having gone in one down, Arnautovic and Antonio came on after the break to a team that had started unchanged from last week.

To be fair, Arnie looked up for it but the Irons had decided to start playing a game where they were playing 70 passes when two would do and all their cramped approach work came for nothing.

Even when Declan Rice hit the post from distance they didn’t get the message and a mixture of sideways and slow forward passing continued with regular loss of possession.

That persisted to the end after they had gone two down to a scrambled effort from Camarasa and my frustration developed into anger where even in the last five minutes the tippy tappy non productive passing nonsense continued.

There are players in this team that won’t be next season as Pelle looks to upgrade but until they learn to play the passing game the manager wants AT PACE AND WITH ACCURACY West Ham will continue to be a very difficult watch at times.

That was poor – very poor. Huddersfield next week and once again the words come tumbling out – they owe us!

Shocking? We were not that good!!!

So we thought we didn’t need to turn up because we thought ourselves superior , yet again.
Absolutely disgusting performance . Just as well we won’t qualify for Europe . Can’t imagine the pain of that potentially embarrassing outcome .
Must say I agree with reluctance on your opinion concerning Hernandez . I like him as a talent and only today supported him , but just like you I can’t abide cheats . Thought it was a bit of a strange occurrence with handball goal but he has proven it wasn’t .
Don’t like opposition players cheating against us and so on the same count I don’t want our players cheating against the opposition .
Cardiff wanted that game a lot more , loads more than us . The mentality is a massive problem ., and respect for the other team is another .

Several of these players will not be here next season. No doubt about that. Will they be replaced by players who are any better is the big question? Pellegrini has had nearly a full season with a mediocre injury prone squad & has done ok, but he has not made that much progress. And he won’t unless an awful lot is spent-or another 4 Declans suddenly break through. Both seem unlikely to me.

I am not sure why he took Anderson off, should have taken Noble or Snodgrass off, two awful bits of defending among many others. Cardiff played at their highest level that is all you can say about them. Arter should have been sent off also but that is all masking a very average performance. Pelle was going mental on the sideline and we can all understand why, we had all the possession but failed to have an effective final ball, Rice was unlucky not to score and he and Nasri when he came on can hold their heads up, Fredericks showed he has to improve a lot, he was taken to town by Hoilett. We need a lot of investment based on that performance and we can kiss goodbye to Europe barring a miracle.

I am fed up people saying how good Fredericks will be. Bottom line he is terrible. Cresswell and Noble’s times are up too as are Snodgrass and Hernandez. Need top RB, LB, CM and another striker over the summer.

The big team mentality might work against the big teams but if we continue to stroll into games like this thinking we are the big team that should be playing in Europe then we are going to get turned over every time. What is it with the poor 10 to 15 minutes at the start of every game? Both halves of the game in this case.

Need I remind how out last couple Europa qualifiers concluded? It is the same issues as it had over the last years (and managers), it will take time. I like Pellegrini and his Big Team mentality; but that seems to not help the complacency aspect ..

If I was playing today I would be embarrassed. The team is like a bloated gut, that every once and a while sucks it in to look fit. Chicharito is not a premier league quality striker. Snodgrass has looked done for months. MP has done a fine job making us look like a team but besides Lanzini where is the talent. Felipe Anderson is another one just watch the games and count the amount of passes he plays that are easily blocked or intercepted. He has quality but he is suspect

We are safe and 9th in the table.Therein lies the problem.I would think that a minimum of 4 of today’s starters will not be here next season and they know it.Rice and Fabianski apart I notice every other Hammers player has been shredded tonight depending on which social media forum you visit.Makes Pelles job easier when the culling begins in the Summer.

Pathetic,,, ,just like all The other times we can not back our other good results up ,,,,, and AGAIN at so called lesser teams,it really is laughable…it’s happened so many Times now ..that’s why I chose not to get excited to .much after our last decent result… The normal spil of m.p is a god kind of stuff and ,we really look like a proper team now ,! Yes we are better but we still are just an average team and m.p is a decent manager but that’s it …and until we stop this kind of rubbish we and he will stay like it ….
    AWFUL…big team mentality my arse

  • Hammer64 says:

During our (many) relegation battle run ins I always checked the fixtures for sides with nothing to play for. I found that was a better predictor of our chances than current position in the league. So if I was now in the drop zone & I saw our name come up I would be licking my lips. Today just shows why. On top of that, even when we badly needed results we were easy to knock off our stride in the early stages of games. So we may find March is not a good month after all, unless some of the sideswe face have also downed tools for the season. I am just glad we are on 39 points, but it would be nice if we could have a good final ten games with no pressure for a change & some nice football & good results.

The performance (or non-performance) today really reminded me of the Burnley away and Wimbledon in the cup games. We need more strength – I think that Arnie and Antonio gave us that a bit. I think Hernandez will go down as a huge waste of money and I woudl not start him against Huddersfield. So Pelle might lose his record of always qualifying for Europe – but needs to sort out how we play against physical teams – otehrwise other teams will start to do the same against us. Fredericks was not great but got very little support from Snodgrass today

    Very disappointed

EEvery other team in the league does bad and want to sack the manager.it seems everybody loves our manager so much he is beond critisimyyy. We could have been 2 down at home at home to Fulham or Newcastle at home. No=one thought that after our recent failures we would do it again.Pelegrini said we had to atart well yet again we were asleep.I am sick of it.Pelegrini must take some blame,y
