Trevor Brooking is thrilled that his big mate Bill Bonds is joining himself and Mooro by having the third stand named after him at the London Stadium.

The Billy Bonds stand will be officially unveiled on March 2 when Newcastle are the visitors and speaking exclusively to ClaretandHugh ‘Sir Trev’ was keen to let Bill know how chuffed he is at the honour.

He said: “It’s going to be a great moment and so thoroughly deserved. Billy was the heartbeat of this club for 20 years and it’s absolutely right that he should be honoured in this way.

He is a great friend and we all know what he was about as a player. West Ham through and through and a man who commands huge respect from everybody inside the club abd all the fans who think the world of him.

” I really couldn’t be more pleased for him. It’s great for the club.”
