“Slav could have been slaughtered”

|

ObiangWest Ham believe Pedro Obiang is set to make a huge impact on the Hammers season after an all-action debut against Leicester.

And one key insider told ClaretandHugh exclusively: “Had he been on from the start of the game we may have seen a different result.

“After he replaced Reece Oxford at the start of the second half it started to happen for the Hammers and that looks the way forward.

“The manager had a very difficult decision to make because Reece had enjoyed a brilliant debut at Arsenal and had to be given his chance. He could have been slaughtered otherwise.

“But this was a very different sort of game and was far more suited to Pedro’s game so despite the defeat the future is looking very good and we appear to have a powerful and versatile squad.”

With Obiang in the team, we can win both our next 2 games ( imagine beating Liverpool away lol ).
We should always play our best team. There’s no place for sentiment. A 16 year old needs to be gently eased in sparingly.
The league cup is his oyster this season. By the way when do we play in it? Have we been drawn yet?

We did look an awful lot sharper in the second half when Obiang came on. Not wanting to take anything away from Reece Oxford, but he is 16 after all, and there’s no doubt his game will improve leaps and bounds, especially with the people he’s got around him to learn from. This is all part of the learning experience. Plus, he has a week of comedy about him having Ozil in his pocket to look back on 😀

I hope we are in the next round or the kids won’t have their glory.

Oxford’s long term career should be at CB you would think and definitely he could have a future there for England, so even though it was a challenge against the very mobile, competitive Leicester midfield/attack he cannot be held to blame for that, this was another gamble by Bilic which on this occaision didn’t pay off, it would still have been good experience for Oxford and one he would learn a lot from, hopefully he will continue to be on the bench and get some more game time throughout the season.

The way Reid played Saturday he has not got long to wait,
Obiang And Koyate with Poyet in the wing is the reason we don’t need another Defensive midfielder my worry is if Payet gets injured we will be left with just Lanzini for inspiration,
Noble will chug around all day but will not make those killing passes,
That’s why we need to give Cullen and Samulsun some playing time off the bench to see if this year is to soon for them, just don’t want to be looking at Jarvis,Afitano and Nolan as our inspiration,
