Slav’s likely team plus the one we’d like to see

|

sakho-diafra_3214372Andy Carroll’ recurring groin worries will be ignored when Slaven Bilic selects the x1 who will do battle against Swansea tomorrow afternoon.

The striker has been restricted in his match programme for several months as it now impossible for him to perform for 90 minutes three times a week.

So he will in all probability get an hour tomorrow with Diafra Sakho ready to leap off the bench at any time.

Michail Antonio is fit and will retain his place either alongside AC or – should the manager really decide to gamble – push Antonio back out to his best right wing role with Diafra Sakho through the middle as Carroll’s partner

Slav named a hugely attacking side for the match against Arsenal so expect the same and possibly more in a match he has declared as an absolute must win affair.

So firstly here’s the team we think he will play and beneath it the one ClaretadHugh would like to see:

SB Team: Randolph; Byram, Fonte, Collins, Masuaku; Feghouli, Noble, Kouyate, Lanzini Antonio, Carroll.

CandH Team: Adrian; Byram, Kouyate, Collins, Masuaku; Antonio, Noble, Lanzini, Ayew; Sakho, Carroll

    Hi Hugh,
    I presume that the C & H team will use a 4-4-2 playing formation..
I would use Lanzini and Ayew as the attacking mid-fielders, and Noble as one of the defensive holding mid-fielders; who would be the other? Where would you play Antonio?
Surely he must be used as a wide mid-fielder (=right winger) or as one of the strikers, preferably next to Sakho (or Carroll). I would give Nordveit a chance as a partner to Noble as one of the defensive mid-fielders. Alternatively, Fernanades could be used next to Noble, but I see him more as an attacking mid-fielder or even a forward..

I have always thought that Sahko is the key to scoring goals. Will be interesting to see what he does?Carroll carrying an injury so there’s not much firepower in my opinion.

Sahko looked totally out of it against arsenal which is understandable, after 2 games in 12 months, and they were 4 months ago.
Is he now much fitter? Nope, so I can’t see the logic of starting him today.
I like he idea of Check at CB, because Fonte has not yet done it, and Check has not been himself in midfield this season. Who replaces him in midfield, must be Fernandes for me, because I think Lanzii is wasted in CMF.

C&H team all day long… please no more Randolph 🙏

Hmmmm, CnH team would be very risky in midfield. Relying on just noble to hold in a lightweight midfield would be suicide :/
I’m definitely for the predicted line up, I’d have Snodgrass in there though to give him one more chance to prove he’s a first team player.
3-1 to the hammers I reckon, COYI!
