So many options as Pelle considers Brighton squad

|

Snoddy earning a right to start

With only Mark Noble injured, Manuel Pellegrini faces various questions as he muses his selection options for Brighton and Hove Albion.

The first of course is the perennial left back issue and whether he sticks with a clearly out of form Aaron Cresswell or recalls Arthur Masuaku following the defender signing a new long term deal.

I reckon he will plump to leave Cress on the bench and add to his numerous attacking options by calling up the DR Congo international.

There is a big question on the other side of the pitch after Ryan Fredericks produced a performance which got plenty of criticism and that may bring Zaba and young Ben Johnson into the equation.

Fornals could get the call

In the middle of the park Snoddy was an impressive high energy performer when he arrived as a 56th minute sub for Wilshere and the boss will presumably be keen to include Fornals.

Frankly, I was impressed with Yarmolenko as pre-season drew to a close and would expect to see him on the bench at least for the trip south.

A couple of changes or so may be required but I see no reason for a vast over-reaction following the City defeat and this would be my team and bench;

Fabianski; Fredericks, Diop, Balbuena, Masuaku; Rice, Snodgrass, Fornals, Anderson, Lanzini, Haller. Bench: Roberto, Johnson, Ogbonna, Yarmolenko, Antonio, Wilshere, Ajeti.

I get that this excludes Antonio but genuinely believe that Snoddy is worth a chance and the decision adds a free kick and corner specialist to the team.
