Soucek’s club want Irons relegated

Tomas Soucek’s Slavia Prague want the Hammers relegated!

The Czech outfit took much persuading in allowing the 24 year old midfielder  to join the Irons on loan with a view to a permanent move.

But that will only happen should the club remain in the Premier League – an event his club are now praying won’t happen.

Soucek was deeply impressive on his debut against Brighton last weekend and along with Robert Snodgrass was probably the unluckiest player in the Hammers side not to be part of a win.

He defended midfield well and found opportunities to drift into the Albion penalty area on some highly interesting long raking runs.

Given that he had not played for six weeks given the winter break in his own country it was a particularly good performance and a big pointer to what we can expect once he becomes fitter and morre adjusted to the pace and style of the PL.

According to The Athletic’s Roshane Thomas, the Czech side took plenty of persuasion to sell Soucek and are still hoping he will come back, and the club’s hierarchy think the best scenario would be for West Ham to relegate in order for the 24-year-old to return at the end of his loan spell.

However, the report adds: ‘While Slavia want Soucek back, the player most likely wants to remain in England having spent the last six months learning English.

The West Ham midfielder moved to London with his wife and young daughter, and will now be keen to fully settle down after joining a club outside the Czech Republic for the first time in his career.”

  1. I feel Prague will be disappointed…Rice, Souceck and Anderson (not to mention Fornals when Moyes finally gets how good he is) is one hell of a midfield….Get them all out there!!! We’re not going to win the next two, but I think we’ll be okay.

  2. You practically lifted this off sportslens mate

    I reckon you need The Athletic’s subscription…

  3. I don’t think it’s true. Most of the Slavia’s supporters wish Tomas and West Ham luck. Could be different with the representatives of the club, but nobody would say that publicly. That would be insulting to Tomas as well.
