Friends of a teenager who tragically died after collapsing during a Sunday league football match last week have called for a special tribute during Spurs’ weekend clash at home to West Ham this weekend.
18 year old Spurs fan Jack Atkinson been playing for local side Holland Football Club when he suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch at the Dulwich Road ground in Clacton at around 10am on Sunday.
He was flown to hospital by air ambulance but died on Monday. Within hours of his death, a GoFundMe page had been set up to help raise money for the Jack’s family.
He said: “On the 14th November, 18-year-old Jack Atkinson passed away from a cardiac arrest in the middle of a Sunday league game. Jack was a massive Spurs fan and loved football like the rest of us. In honour of Jack, can I ask all Spurs and West Ham fans to give a round of applause on the 18th minute at the West Ham game on Saturday. It would mean the world to his family and friends. Please share the word”
Not going myself, but one thing I know is West Ham fans, have a sense of occasion. Im sure all that are going will show respect to this lad.COYI
it’s tragic that any player dies playing football or any other sport for that matter. he had the whole of his life ahead of him. The least he deserves is a round of applause on the 18th minute.
