Spurs To Bank Millions If West Ham Land Top Target

Tottenham Hotspur are set for an unlikely and unexpected windfall should West Ham complete a deal for Republic of Ireland striker Troy Parrott.

The AZ Alkmaar forward has emerged as Nuno Espírito Santo’s leading striker target following Sunderland’s decision to end negotiations over Wilson Isidor.

As we looked at earlier today, Parrott appears to tick many of the boxes Nuno is looking for in a centre-forward and looks capable of improving West Ham’s pressing game while offering a far greater goal threat.

Claret & Hugh spoke to a well-placed source earlier today and, when discussing two strikers who had been offered to West Ham, we were told:

“At the moment they’re not going ahead. I think Parrott is their main target.”

Spurs could pocket £4m

West Ham are believed to be negotiating at around the £20 million mark for the Eredivisie striker.

Should a deal be agreed, Tottenham would benefit from a 20% sell-on clause inserted when Parrott left North London.

That would hand Spurs a fee of around £4 million and allow them to claw back a small slice of the £85 million they paid West Ham for Mateus Fernandes earlier in the transfer window.

As we covered earlier today, Parrott is viewed as a significant upgrade on Pablo Felipe, matching the Brazilian’s relentless pressing and work rate while offering a much greater end product in front of goal.

Parrott now appears to be the priority

West Ham continue to be offered alternative strikers.

Claret & Hugh was told the Hammers have turned down the opportunity to sign Bamba Dieng on a free transfer from France, while the club have also held discussions over another forward described as “highly promising” by his representative.

However, all the indications are that both Nuno Espírito Santo and Nils Koppen have now identified Parrott as their preferred option.

If that’s the case, it would suggest West Ham are prepared to go all out to secure the former Spurs striker rather than spreading their efforts across multiple targets.
