West Ham may be about to cross swords with one of their brightest young talents who departed the club under something of a cloud in 2024.
Disgruntled with lack of opportunity under David Moyes, young striker Divin Mubama elected to leave as a free agent despite to offer of a new contract from the Irons, who received £2 million compensation as the youngster signed for Manchester City.
The young Mubama was loaned out by the Citizens last season and could now be available to West Ham’s championship competitors this summer, according to the dailymail.com:
“Striker Divin Mubama is attracting interest from Middlesbrough, Derby and Preston.
The 21-year-old, who joined City from West Ham for £2million in 2024, had a successful spell on loan at Stoke last season, scoring five goals until his campaign was curtailed by injury in January.
Mubama suffered ankle ligament damage after a hefty challenge from QPR’s Jimmy Dunne and initially feared he had broken his leg.
However, he has recovered well, is fit again and a number of Championship sides are keen to take him, hoping he can have a similar impact on their season.”
You’d wonder what sort of welcome Mubama would receive coming back to play against his old club: He did seem short of opportunities in his last season but having turned his back on a contract offer – with only modest success since- will surely have a point to prove if he sets foot on the London Stadium turf as a West Ham opponent.
He went to city thinking he was better than he actually was. Failed miserably. At stoke he was awful I know 2 stoke supporters they said he was useless. Unless he suddenly gets super powers from somewhere I don’t think he will cause us any heartache
not his fault…. he should have been given more opportunities.
He looked good when sitting on the bench. Unfortunately that was as good as it got. He peaked in the juniors but never progressed his game beyond that.
Maybe a WHU coaching problem as the guy has not been the only example of expected talent plateauing at mediocre.
We will face greater challenges in the Championship. We will cope.
He didn’t catch the eye in the limited game time he was given with us, but he was still very young. Too young probably. I think that’s been the case with a few youngsters who have left us, like Harrison Ashby, Quina, and Jeremy Ngakia. Ambition is good, but there’s also something to be said for patience and gradual development.
Would you want him back Martin? Not sure I would he didn’t set the world alight at Stoke
No but you can guarantee if he signs for one of our Championship competitors he’ll suddenly become as prolific as Haaland
You are living in another world
Very true 😊⚒️⚒️
You must be desperate for something to write about this player will never make it
We could always sign him on loan
