Sullivan documentary airs on TV

|

Episode four  of the BBC’s Britain’s Youngest Football Boss starring Jack Sullivan is now available on BBC IPlayer

It’s four months into the season and West Ham United women’s team, who have won two out of their last six games, now face the daunting task of taking on current champions Chelsea – a match that for 90 minutes will turn partners into opponents, as off-pitch couple Alisha Lehmann of West Ham and Ramona Bachmann of Chelsea go head to head for the first time.

Whilst the team are hovering at the wrong end of the table, Jack tries his best to drum up support and morale, but can’t help feeling the pressure himself.  Elsewhere, the Sullivan family get together to celebrate Jack’s 19th birthday.

The series follows top-flight football club West Ham United Women’s team and their 18-year-old Managing Director Jack Sullivan.  As women’s football explodes into the mainstream in the run-up to next summer’s World Cup, Jack’s dad David Sullivan, one of the richest men in Britain and the joint-Chairman of West Ham United, has tasked Jack with transforming the fortunes of the women’s team.

Filming on and off the pitch, with episodes released as the 2018/19 season progresses, the series follows the progress of the squad as they debut in the all-new, fully-professional Women’s Super League, competing at the highest level of the women’s game, against some of the toughest teams in the world.

Jack’s first full-time job since leaving school at 16 sees him bringing together a squad of 18 outspoken, powerful women, overseeing a million-pound budget, and trying to raise the profile of a growing sport often dismissed and derided by male fans. With exclusive access to the club, players and backroom staff, as well as to Jack and his larger-than-life family, this revealing and inspiring behind-the-scenes story discovers just what it takes to be a professional female footballer in today’s game, and whether a loveable but inexperienced teenager can change the face of women’s football.
