Declan heading for “a ton of stick”

|

Declan Rice is again monopolising the headlines after finally making his decision on which international country he is going to represent.

And CandH partner Gonzo – who in an amusing opening to this vlog shows he’s a master in using 100 words when six will do – reckons the boy deserves a round of applause.

As he points out, the Hammers top man has represented Ireland at various levels and the easiest thing in the world to have done would have been to have stayed with the Irish connection.

Instead he has opted for the Three Lions and in this video Gonzo makes it clear he is right behind him.

And he is in a good position to make a judgement because he too has a granddad born in Cork and realises the family issues that can  create.

As Gonzo explains Dec is going to get a “ton of stick” from the Irish but has remained firm in making up his mind – enjoy  the vlog.

The Republic of Ireland can have no complaints as they have been doing it to Northern Ireland for years

All I am going to say is, Declan was born in London, brought up in London and has only ever lived in London. London is in England and just because his grandparents are Irish doesn’t make him Irish, if we all go far enough back in time , how many of us are actually English, just a thought.

Is it within the rules? Yes. That’s all.
