Sullivan speaks about his BBC documentary series

19-year old Jack Sullivan has given an interview to the FA website in which he talks about the Women’s team and his new documentary series on BBC 3

 “The documentary gives the women’s team an excellent opportunity to gain exposure. We want to support every team here at West Ham. We see all of our players – men, women and youth – as equal. We hope that the documentary will bring more spectators here to watch the women at Rush Green.  But it’s not just about West Ham, it’s about promoting the whole women’s brand. The documentary is a fantastic way to promote the league, the high standard of football and the professionalism of the clubs and players.” said Jack

“It’s all about changing perceptions, We want people to watch the documentary and decide that they want to go and see a women’s football match. And of course, going once is all it takes to get hooked and buy a ticket for the rest the season – and maybe even start playing too! 

“Only recently has a girl been able to tell her teacher that she wants to be a professional footballer and it be taken seriously.  We want to see as many females become professional footballers as possible and the more I can do to help the game grow, the happier I will be.”

“We had to take the risk in applying to the top tier and when you look at where we are now, it certainly paid off. It was a brilliant opportunity and we had to grab it with both hands. We had a really busy summer. It was so exciting to bring in so many new players.”

“We wanted to bring in a mix of youth and older players, as you can see on the documentary, they’re a real group of characters and they have a strong bond.  The girls have done well so far, but I think we’re really going to see them improve in this second half of the season.  I’m excited for what’s next to come.”
