Crysencio Summerville’s West Ham contract has become something of a media talking point in recent days with the ‘news’ over his relegation release clause somehow finding its way into the public domain. The veracity of those reports is likely to be tested any day with the suggestion that a second Premier League heavyweight is set to enter the bidding.
Manchester United, still bruised and a little red faced, no doubt, after losing their ‘prime target’ Mateus Fernandes, will have been encouraged by the ‘£40million buyout’ suggestions published this weekend to get a wiggle on and make their bid for the winger.
According to caughtoffside.com they won’t be the only ones:
“Sources close to the agents industry have informed ‘CaughtOffside’ that Liverpool have made a serious move for the winger who has impressed at the World Cup…The Guardian reports that Fulham have joined Chelsea and Manchester United in the race for Summerville, while TEAMtalk claims United hold concrete interest.”
So it seems the emergence of the Dutch winger’s so-called release clause ( nobody knows the exact terms – other than the Hammers board – and they’re not saying ) has likely done West Ham’s negotiating stance no harm at all, accepting that their winger is likely to depart back to the top tier of English football: The sooner the better for the player and for Nuno’s Championship squad re-inforcement.
With preseason starting on Thursday – but Summerville due back late after his World Cup exploits – there’s still the strong probability that the Irons’ ambitious Flying Dutchman will be heading off to Old Trafford or Anfield – rather than the portakabins of Rush Green – when the time comes to pull on his training gear later this month.
It seems to me that Summerville’s value has undoubtedly risen but his selling price has not. And if, as it appears, he only wants to join Man Utd then they would surely offer no more than necessary. So £40 million it is then. That is diabolical!
Release clause or not let’s hope he goes for £50 million north . His price has risen 😀
But not for the better for our team & attack!!
I still think that we should be allowed to try and get the best price. Not sure what his contract release was but it sounds that if relegated that he could be leleased for 40million. But that surely is only if someone does not offer more. If 4 or 5 clubs are chasing him I can not see why we can not get more.
Let’s hope we can otherwise that has really backfired on us and a young very talented player is going to be sold for well under his worth
