Amongst the transfer ‘noise’ – the rumours of likely bids and deals – that has sprung up around West Ham United since the window opened last Monday, there does seem very little of substance to pick over as the Irons keep their heads down whilst seemingly sorting out their behind-the-scenes-leadership structure.
However, a lack of concrete transfer news just now might well be regarded by Hammers fans as a ‘good’ thing as it means there’s been, as yet, no stampede towards the exits by players hell-bent on quitting their relegated footballing employer.
In fact, the story surrounding one player who might rejoin West Ham intrigued me – on the face of it, completely counter-intuitive, yet there it is: Reported by sportsboom.co.uk and covered by several other WH blog sites is the story that seemingly flies in the face of the Hammers’ failure to retain Premier league status last season:
“West Ham Line Up Shock Permanent Move for Axel Disasi After Loan Spell”
Ran their heading last week, suggesting that Disasi, now back at Premier League Chelsea, may be open to a permanent move to West Ham despite their relegation.
Which on the face of it seems unlikely in the extreme.

Disasi returning to London Stadium – head scratching suggestion made by several outlets last week.
However the report does its best to convince us:
“West Ham are lining up a move to bring Chelsea defender Axel Disasi back to the club on a permanent deal, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal. The Hammers are keen to bolster their defence this summer, and the experienced Frenchman has emerged as a leading target after his loan spell in East London last season.
Disasi, 28, spent the second half of the campaign with West Ham and made 14 Premier League appearances as the club suffered the agony of relegation.
But despite the disappointing end to the season, the former France international is understood to have enjoyed his time with the Hammers and would welcome the chance to return.”
Really?
Despite Chelsea’s reported thirty million-plus price tag and the player’s reported seventy thousand a week wages?
That tends to fly in the face of Championship squad cost ratio rules..
Sorry if I’m not convinced. Kretinsky may have brought a new optimism to east London but Id be surprised if the Hammers were ready to splash the cash to that extent, billionaire shareholder or no billionaire shareholder.
Supposedly Chelsea were going to release him by mutual consent at least that was the rumour I heard.
Maybe another loan with an obligation to buy if promoted could work?
indeed, “Morty”, astute suggestion. If Disasi is ready to take the hit on wages for a year then it could be….
I could see this happening IF no other clubs in top 5 leagues will pay 30m+. Loan with obligation on promotion, with wage % contribution (50/50, 60/40) could happen if Disasi wants to get his career back on track.
Well I’m with you on this, can’t see it happening, but then if he is unhappy at Chelsea and stands no chance of getting in he team, enjoyed his time at the Hammers then who knows. Remember at 28 he may feel he needs to be playing first team football. Come back to the Hammers at make a strong contribution that see us promoted as champions he could become a cult hero. Remember people’s priorities change as get older and I for one would welcome him back.
