Tabloid u-turn on Pellegrini sack claims

|

The Sun newspaper have quickly carried out a U-turn on claims that Manuel Pellegrini faced the sack from West Ham if his results do not improve.

Journalist Andy Dillion writing for the red top tabloid made the claims late last night around 10.30 pm but the online headline was later quickly amended this morning around 8.30 am to soften down the headline with no mention of the word sack in a later revision except in the original website address.  The Sun’s report was also repeated by the Daily Mail who later deleted their version of the article and headline.

As Claret and Hugh exclusively reported yesterday, the West Ham board remain united behind the 66-year-old manager  confident that he and his squad will work hard turn the Hammers season around.

The Chilean manager has a contract worth £8m per year until the summer of 2021 and the board are expected to honour the contract come what may.

And so will the board and every other inefficient manager drag us down every year, without an apology or regret. Surely when you employ someone for such a job with such earnings, then you stipulate expectations and targets. And an agreement put in place with an acceptable severance package that will suit all. Failing to do that is tant amount to poor management.

  • razorwine says:

Or better still Simon give pelle the tools to finish the job and buy another 5quality players needed not 85mill first season and 25mill this season when Aston villa were given 147mill when coming up in one season only. We all knew what’s needed here and not cheap buys as theres no money left buying Sanchez and giving contracts to cresswell masu when a new left back that can defend is needed. Cheap keepers as back up and guess what happens to our top keeper eh . This board never learns . They need to either back pelle properly or sell up and let someone that will back him , before we lose diop rice haller and Anderson

    • So after Yarmo,Fornals, Roberton u reckon that’s a good idea yeah?

    • mark wiggins says:

100% agree Razor a massive underinvestment , I don’t blame Pelle cos I reckon the board said get who you want but you only have 25 million net. He got the best he could with what he had @ to be fair Haller ain’t bad is he , I think Fornals will turn out ok eventually, no proper back up keeper though that was funds too. I think the team can play much better but the lads and Pelle need to stick together and we as fans should back them to turn it around we just need that team spirit back where they play and support each other . That’s what we need COYI ⚒

By questioning management’s skills do we question what Mr Sullivan’s alleged statement about buying Newcastles Shelby and said ” no he’s a joke not interested ” ? Or do we question Mr Pellegrini tactics? Because after the game Saturday Shelby was quoted saying “we knew west ham play a high line pressing game so all week we practiced to play deep and hit them on the run with him supplying the killer pass ” ??? Which worked for them. Are we so readable with Pellegrini’s tactics ? Ten minutes from the end of the match he changed to 4 4 2 we were 3 nil down ,we got 2 goals back, why didn’t he do that earlier? Bad management all round I’d say

    • Can u give me a link to that “quote”.?

      • Dusty Miller says:

In an article for 101 goals, fans confronted Mr Sullivan after the fa cup game against Wigan we lost 2 nil a fan had posted on Twitter with the 101 site he asked him why don’t we sign Shelvey in which he stated he said he’s useless the fan on Twitter in the article was (Nick Marsh @ marshy boy26) January 27 2018

        • Dusty Miller says:

Must say he didn’t say joke but useless ? He didn’t look useless Saturday though 😊

        • Oh yeah, that’s when a load of heavies surrounded him wasn’t it as he was rushing to get to his mother in hospital who died the same night. I think he can be forgiven for that don’t you. And Shelvey has had a long injury history too and wasn’t exactly to Benitez’s taste last season. One goal and he becomes a midfield genius. Sorry scuse my cynicism

          • Dusty Miller says:

So Away supporters are heavies Hugh? And if we are going down the signings with injury problems why sign wheelchair (Wilshere)??? We all have to vent our feelings that’s what forums like this are for surely???

            • On that occasion yes…he was surrounded pushed, shoved sworn at and abused. However, much we disapprove of somebody there’s a line Dusty. Let’s not forget his emotional state too give his mother being near death. I think you will find it was MP’s decision to sign him for three years. And of course that’s what forums are for. I assume we are ALL allowed to post our views aren’t we or am I Sean and others who work for it excluded

Absolutely ridiculous ! If you’re getting beat every week the manager has to go – would happen at any other club.
Pellegrini is clueless and things won’t improve……..
The bigger picture is Sully and Gold have to sell up as they have taken the club as far as they can. Most West Ham fans only accepted the fish bowl on Sully’s promise of world class players and European football – total pipe dream.
Need serious finance to move club forward – believe we have a billionaire with 10% stake in the club, perhaps he can buy them out ?
Our only chance of European football at present is Calais in a pre-season friendly !

  • zahama says:

I seem to remember David Gold saying that Slav was safe about two weeks before he was fired and also that Moyes deserved a chance a couple of days before he was shafted and I think Unai Emery interviewed (maybe that one would have ended in tears)

I think it comes down to the next 6 tough games – get a couple of wins or about 7 or more points and Pelle is safe – get no wins and I think he will be gone

I really hope that we do the former – a full on relegation battle is really emotionally draining
