Despite his protestations, TalkSport pundit Simon Jordan rarely seems to have anything positive to say about West Ham — and today has been no different.

The former Crystal Palace chairman has once again tipped the Hammers for relegation and even declared that he will not change his mind on the matter.

Jordan has always been outspoken about West Ham and, to be fair, most fanbases probably feel the same about the outspoken pundit discussing their clubs. He often likes to preface his comments about the Hammers’ ownership by saying: “I have no love for David Sullivan” — before usually going on to defend him.

I’m not changing my mind

He has also made no secret of his opinions on West Ham supporters on several occasions, so his comments will likely be taken with a pinch of salt by many fans.

However, when host Jim White pointed out that it had been “draws all round” for the relegation candidates this weekend, Jordan used the opportunity as a segue to explain why he still believes the Hammers will go down.

“Nuno Espírito Santo has built up morale inside the club because their recent performances have been commendable,” Jordan said.

“But I still feel — and I’m not going to change my view — that West Ham might still find themselves getting relegated.”

simon jordan loves the sound of his own voice i wouldn’t take his opinion very seriously

Can’t stand the bloke. Has nothing positive to say about West Ham ever. The best result for us over the weekend was that draw Spurs got with Liverpool. Means Tudor stays at the helm, if they lost then they would’ve sacked him and most likely brought in a decent manager. Villa are struggling at the moment so we can pick up a point or 3 hopefully. Forest and Spurs is the big one. I see Spurs losing that.

Not over til the fat Jamie O’Hara sings

As I don’t care about Simon Jordan’s opinions I’m not bothered about this particular statement. It’s easy to cling to preconceived ideas and ignore new evidence. That’s a problem many people have.

  • Richard F says:

Don’t get why you are getting so defensive Gonzo? Whether you like the man or not he is entitled to his opinion.

  • PB61 says:

It’s an opinion and one that he’s entitled to make, as is anyone else. I dont know why people get so worked up about it.

MIGHT get relegated, right? Well, we all know that. And so MIGHT Forest, Spurs and Leeds. So what? Ok, we are supposed to have the toughest run-in but, if comment by John Ayris here turns out to be correct, then our current form should save us from the dreaded drop. Let’s hope you are right, John!

  • kc says:

    That should be, 18th place – can’t count !

  • AM says:

And if he is right CP will replace us next year the way they are playing lately

  • John Ayris says:

The most meaningful evidence is form over the last eight games given there’s eight games to go.

    7th West Ham 12 points.

    16th Nottingham Forest 7 points.

    17th Leeds 7 points.

    20th Tottenham 3 points.

Our form needs to collapse for us to be relegation favourites as it’s more like the form of a mid table team as things stand, it has been that way for the passed twelve games as we are eleventh in the last twelve form table.

    • kc says:

Yes, you make a good point; & you may well be correct. But, this does not mean that this situation will continue – to our advantage – although I hope it does. Tottenham did well against, admittedly, an inept Liverpool team – which beat us 5-2. So, what do you make of that ? Maybe Spurs performances are going to pick up. Who knows ? The one demonstrable fact, as things stand, is that we are in 17th place. Somehow, we have to get at least one place higher by season’s end. The other teams will be thinking that too; our form suggests that we can do it, but we are starting the battle behind them – only a little it is true – but we have to perform better than at least one of them. There is no room for us to manoeuvre !

Jordan is a washed up self-proclaimed voice of reason using a national platform to spout his usual biased agenda to those who still listen to this excuse for a viable sports radio channel.

Anybody who genuinely gives his usually self-interested agenda the time of day seriously needs to give their head a proper wobble.

And not for the first, and it’s not going to be for the last time, his verdict is incorrect and based on nothing but pre-existing bitterness.

  • Rob says:

Jordan has a serious chip on his shoulder that will at times make him look stupid. So come on West Ham make this one of them times, keep us up.

  • kc says:

Can’t see very much wrong with what he says. West Ham ARE in grave danger of relegation – are they not ? Recent very commendable performances & point gathering have considerably improved our hopes of avoiding relegation – especially against Man C – but all of the relegation candidates drew at the weekend & , as a result, we are still in the bottom three. So, we have a very difficult fight to stay up &, although we have improved greatly, we are still very much in danger. His opinion is truly valid – although I very much hope that he is wrong !
