Goldstein drops surprise Bowen bombshell
In one of the most bizarre transfer statements I have ever heard, Andy Goldstein this morning dropped the bombshell that Hammers captain Jarrod Bowen will be leaving.
Goldstein revealed live on talkSPORT that he’s “heard” Bowen will join Aston Villa from West Ham this summer.
Goldstein said: “This will happen. I can’t tell you my sources, but this will happen.
“Jarrod Bowen to Aston Villa, you heard it here first. I’ve heard, I can’t tell you from who.
“It’s definitely not from Danny Dyer or any connection there.
“The transfer is permanent.”
His confidence is what concerns me
As a seasoned listener to almost everything on talkSPORT (with the exception of Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara), I have to say this is most unusual from Goldstein.
Ordinarily, he is a jovial presenter who doesn’t get involved in ITK, transfer rumours or predicting which deals will happen. So the fact that he has decided to go public with this is strangely concerning.
West Ham had been growing more confident that they could keep Bowen at the London Stadium, with the chances said to be greater than 50-50. It is clear that both Nuno Espírito Santo and Daniel Křetínský would like Bowen to remain to help with the club’s promotion push.
But there’s something quite worrying about the confidence and assurance Goldstein has used when predicting this transfer.
Bowen would be the one that really hurts
Whilst the Hammers can probably afford to lose Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville, were Bowen to join that list then I do believe it would seriously hinder the club’s attempts to return to the Premier League.
It’s certainly a breaking story that we’ll be watching with interest.
Gonzo, this doesn’t make sense. We have had hints from Bowen he wants to stay, he has said his family are settled in London and the club seem to believe he is staying. Has someone taken a bung to stir the pot I wonder?
I could see it happening since Jarrod had a trial with Aston Villa as a youngster but wasn’t taken on. He instead joined Hereford United’s academy, where his professional career began before moving to Hull City and then West Ham. But Leominster where he grew up is only an hour tops to Aston Villa. He’d be going home in a sense.
Yet again I read Bowen might be leaving. What a load of rubbish. Please stop publishing something that’s never going to happen
Will not happen. Bowen is staying. The radio equivalent of click bait.
There’s no story! The off season does my fruit, pointless links, gossip, mystery, bullsh*t, hyperbole. 99% of it is baseless nonsense, which I’m afraid includes this site!
There are only a few that I know with proper connections and Bowen leaving has merely been a lazy, convenient media link for weeks.
Anyone who listens to TS in the expectation of hearing anything vaguely truthful or intelligent will be disappointed
, this most definitely includes Goldstein!
Thanks for that constructive criticism. Always welcome.
this was in the press 2 weeks ago, it’s hardly a big scoop like he says..
just shows how drab the world cup is if they’re talking about this…
last month they were saying villa need to sell so who knows…
If he goes he goes but 50 million has to be the starting point he still has 5 years on his contravt
unfortunately at this time of year the hundreds and thousands will say anything they want to get people to listen to or read it as there will never be any recourse and most people will never revisited it as it’ll just be yesterdays chip paper ! are villa , like reportedly everton , going to pay us just 20 million for Jarrod’s services ? are they going to pay him the wages we are paying him , and over the length of contract that we have with him ? i was of the opinion that villa themselves are on a tight budget and are strapped by the financial regulations that are forced upon them and that they need to sell to buy , but what do i know ? Probly as much as the fella who’s said it’s a done deal that villa have got there man x
Goldstein loves winding up West Ham fans. Ignore him.
Last week it was Everton. I’ve heard Liverpool too and Chelsea.
Jarrod’s not going anywhere soon.
Would be a blow and I worry what sort of message it would send to others who are also unsettled. If it is true, we need to get a move on with signings to show that the ambition is still there.
Bowen is no captain and one of the reasons we got relagated. If he wants to join a souless club with souless fans then off you go
Goldstein not a presenter i listen to i think he likes himself way to much….World cup apart from the Algeria Austria match been pretty average so lets just throw that out as it is an easy story to make up and get listeners to bite…..Lets just wait and see shall we.
He club and Bowen need to just come out and confirm he’s staying
Contrived to get the angered to call in and generate a show
Ignore
