Well, here we are  as a new era for the club has dawned as finally the most protracted transfer in living memory is now complete

Declan Rice is now officially a Gooner.

We all accepted that he would leave months ago and I suppose the lure of pie and mash or jellied eels was never going to keep him here.

Nevertheless, he conducted himself with great dignity and it was very clear to see the love he has for West Ham and the fans.

Just over a month ago, he emulated the likes of Bobby Moore and Billy Bonds by lifting our first piece of silverware for 43 years following our heroics in Prague.

What a way to bow out !

I am going to miss his galloping runs from midfield, his wonderful ball winning ability and his penchant for strikes from out the box.

He has also left us from being perennial flakes to hard bitten, experienced European operators which I also thank him for.

It is going to be strange to see him play against us, I think the first opportunity for that will be our away game on Boxing Day.
