The Bees are back in town | Report claims West Ham face new offer decision

Having been absent from the match day squad yesterday – and with just a couple of minutes under his belt this season – there’s very evidently something afoot over the future of West Ham’s first choice left back El Hadji Malick Diouf.

Late back into pre-season after his World Cup with Senegal, the twenty one year old has been rumoured to be the subject of Premier League interest and yet just a week ago well connected sources rubbished claims of offers being made.

Brentford were deemed “content with their current left‑back options  Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey and Keane Lewis‑Potter and are instead expected to loan out young prospect Jayden Meghoma rather than pursue Diouf” by journalist Dom Smith.

El Hadji Malick Diouf in action for West Ham as speculation continues over the defender's future.

Diouf- missing from starting line up yesterday as a transfer looks increasingly likely

However, today’s footballinsider throws a very different take on Diouf’s situation, claiming that the Bees are back in town:

Sources: Brentford submitting improved new West Ham offer:

Brentford are preparing to place an improved £37million bid for West Ham United defender El Hadji Malick Diouf, sources have told Football Insider.

The Bees have seen their last three offers rejected for the Hammers left-back as they look to secure his signature before the transfer window closes.”

West Ham fans, deflated and dispirited lot that we are following yesterdays’ poor performance against Charlton, will all ask the same questions – will the significant funds generated from Diouf’s sale be re-invested in the squad? And will Nils Koppen have time to bring in a Diouf replacement since Ollie Scarles, on current showing, isn’t gelling with Nuno’s preferred playing style.

Otherwise, selling Diouf – and further weakening West Ham’s squad makes no sense, at any price.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

I don’t rate him, was caught short a few times last season, we should sell him and take the money. Hopefully they get a decent left back with pace Scarles definitely not the answer after recent performances.

I wasn’t at the game yesterday – but from the bits i’ve seen of the two league games and a full summer of relative inactivity – I am concerned at where we are and where we are heading. Let’s not forget that last season we only picked up when Paco arrived . We are playing worse now than we did last season. So much positivity about the changes in the club structure and how this was going to be a new dawn- we sold players early but didn’t manage to get any notable signings until two weeks ago – If the player is the right player – why can’t we just agree a fee with a selling club in a day and get a deal done, like other clubs do ? We keep hearing that players want away – to be honest given the current set up, manager in charge – who can blame them – wouldn’t describe Nuno as motivational – he will be gone before long- then what? Scott Parker is not the long term answer! Where have all the players gone that would roll up their sleeves and put in a shift? Diouf is not a great defender but he’s the best left back we have at this time – shouldn’t sell until we have a fee accepted and a deal has been done for a replacement!

What a sad state of affairs when tin pot clubs like Brentford and Crystal Palace with less then half our fan base and history can cherry pick our players
This board and the current manager have alot to answer for

  • Brooksy says:

To be fair to Ollie Scarles, he has to play alongside Kilman which isn’t ideal.

  • Hammerdan says:

What an absolute joke West Ham have become.

Another mercenary footballer being paid very well to do……. nothing!!

They should play with 100% commitment until they go.

The modern footballers not playing ebcause they are too good for this division are a joke!!!

    Get rid!!

  • ND says:

Piquerez would be a plug and play replacement

  • M B says:

Sorry, Martin but clear pattern here. Sell the silver and bank the profits apart from a couple of poundshop buys in Engels and Piroe

  • Alan says:

He wasn’t in the squad yesterday so he’s probably going somewhere.

  • Dave says:

The only decision is does he want to be here or not.
if not, get rid for as much as possible.
if he’s happy to stay, keep.

  • Harvey Fox says:

Sell him.. he doesn’t want to play and he’s not worth half of that. Hey rod and get on someone that’s wants to play for us.
