News that Jack Wilshere is suffering an ankle injury and is being sent for a scan is the news that every West Ham dreaded but many foresaw when he joined West Ham. Arsenal fans will be used to Jack’s problems but for Hammers fans, the fear is it is another Andy Carroll situation, all over again.
Like with Andy Carroll we were promised time and time, this injury isn’t serious, this operation will fix him once and for all but the reality in football often is once a sicknote always a sick note.

Agree with the others on this, even if he is out for 3 months players get injured, he had been injury free apart from a knock that only resulted in one game missed for two years. The bottom line of this is that we should have signed Joao Mario in fact we should do a deal for January for him and start him training with us already seeing as he has been frozen out at inter.
Thanks Sean for listing Wiltshire’s injury history. Personally I wouldn’t refer to JW and AC as ‘sicknote’ – it implies they are not really injured and are faking it. I don’t think either are doing that – Sakho, for example, suffered from mysterious strains etc, that were dubious – but the fact remains that JW and AC are injury-prone and always have been. Some players unfortunately are. They’re probably the 2 most high profile injury-prone players in the Premiership, so we’re top of that table in that one, perhaps …
I sincerely hope they both recover asap and both come good, but the contribution from JW so far this season is not too encouraging, in my opinion. Good job we’ve got so many other quality midfielders to plug the gap. COYI.
SUllivan should I’ve insisted on the one year deal despite what MP wanted afte all he has had the experience of Andy Carroll MP has not. MP may come to rue the day he signed Wiltshere he has not performed so far & now is injured so it looks like he will not earn his money this year. I still think Mp made a bad a decision by not buying two class midfielders, if he cannot get his act together we will be in the relegation zone come Christmas & decent midfielders may not want o play for us.
Sean, you have just written the biggest piece of rubbish I have ever read from you. Wilshere has been injury free for the last two seasons and being sent for a scan is as much a precautionary measure as anything else. There has been nothing to suggest anything else, so why try to make it out to be more than I expect it will be. Expect better of you than this bit of lazy writing!!
We shall see after the scan Julian, I hear rumours he will be out for three months, I just hope those rumours are wrong and ill-informed. We have all been there before.

I hope I am wrong and it ends up being nothing. I want Wilshere to succeed but we have been there before with Andy Carroll so it hard not to be a bit jaded as we heard all the promises all before.
Yes he has been injury free for almost two years so Murphy’s law tells us that we will suffer a series of injuries again now he is a Hammer.
Valid point but I just can’t help feel this is both a little unnecessary until we know the results of a scan (as we know how over-reactive the majority of fans are sadly) and at this time, unhelpful, as we need some optimism and resolve around the club, rather than the perpetual negativity. Imho.

It was only a matter of time . Highlights even more the awful transfer dealings in the last window . We all knew Lanzini was out and Noble is finished but we shied away from getting a real midfield creator / ball winner because they were too expensive .. really is that more expensive than dropping into Championship which is where we are heading .
