There is still plenty of time to sign Gomez

|

The Premier League summer transfer window opened on 16th May and closes on 8th August. Most players contracts run until the end of June meaning clubs are usually not keen to start paying for their new players until 1st July.  That is the case for West Ham’s three new summer signings in Roberto, David Martin and Pablo Fornals who all officially become Hammers at the beginning of July.

Many players are still aboard on holiday with families not scheduled to return until July, 7th July to be precise for West Ham players.

Others not on holiday are still playing in Tournaments. In the case of Copa America in Brazil in which Maxi Gomez is playing that doesn’t culminate to a final until 7th July with the final.

The European U21 Championships in which Pablo Fornals does not complete with a final until 30th June in Italy.

The African Cup of Nations in Which Arthur Masuaku is playing doesn’t finish until 19th July in Egypt.

Any players playing in tournaments will receive contracted extra holidays before returning to their clubs pre-season training.

The Maxi Gomez transfer has all the hallmarks of the Felipe Anderson signing last summer who eventually signed on 15th July 2018.

Well I for one think it’s stupid with Valencia messing around and no money why on earth havnt we put a bid in, all that we are doing is giving another club time to come in and snatch him from us at the last min , I really don’t see how waiting and waiting some more can benefit us , you either want to sign him or you don’t ..it’s like they want someone to get him so they don’t have to spend the money and use the good old ,well we tried quote…

I hope we do sign Gomez, there isn’t a rush, he is on international duty, so it’s very unlikely anything will be concluded before that is finished. The only worry I have if we do sign him is that the impression is he would prefer to remain in Spain.

    • Hammer_Rite says:

Yes you are right No 32, we do not want a player who has just come for the money but his heart isn’t in it and after a season wants to leave because he is homesick.
We have had players like that before.!

Aaahhh Gomez….. We keep waiting, waiting & then miss out on him & all other targets.. for God’s sake, move on

We need a Gomez up top. Forget players like Mitrovic and Wilson. I would be delighted to sign Gomez with Arnie, Antonio and Silva as my 4 strikers options. I would also sign a young left footer player who can play on the right. France have a cracker playing for them in the u21 championship. We still need a top midfielder. So for me 2 top players and a left winger with potential. Alot of people are raving about Fornals, I have to say I have watched him in the euro u21s and I am certainly not getting excited just yet – he looks indecisive to me.

Why are we paying Husillos so much money when we have so many fans who can do a better job?

    • Matty 53 says:

You are correct 66 plenty on this site
think they can and it would save the club alot of money because they can do it from
      there arm chair

  • COYI .please says:

You know what’s gonna happen we wil end up with a second rate forward nobody else wants, and dare I say a history of injuries as long as your arm.
If serious about progression put in a decent offer NOW or stop these rumours that ALWAYS gives false hope before the start of recent seasons .
Do not suggest Sturridge or Wilson either !!!!

  • Ray1962 says:

tbh nothing will be decided until the club have talked to the player anyway but could it be a diversion giving the impression we are giving it all (publicly) in his direction when all along we could be in for someone else.
either way we have to wait an see lol

  • Dom says:

The danger in waiting during an international tournament is that if they play brilliantly, suddenly 3-4 more clubs come in to the equation.

Def not big on Moron Valencia do have FFP issues & want Chic on cheap. Tho I think Maxi & Chic would be a good front 2 w one year left time to sell on Chic. They offered Santo Mina & £12m for Gomes we should.offer Chicharito if he would go talks of Galatasary wants 4m a year still be half pay cut. So Chic & £25-30m offer or sell to Valencia to back off & then use money for Gomez. The I really hope someone comes in for Arnie shame 2018 was by far the best & most consistent season of his career. But he & is brother will push for a move if he does well in Jan or if doesn’t play or if plays bad then 5 year deal big wages. Over 26 no 5 year deals.
Aspas signed a new deal with Vigo & he really is a Vigo lad older but they love him think scored 19 him coming back from injury was huge in them staying up. Which they have some talent Brahim Mendez very gold CM AM Wings Lobtka Aspas Gomez etc.
Then if get £22m for Arnie get a well rounded CF or speedster I like Ekambi at Villarreal another great squad close to relegation. He was great at Angers Sahko:esque is fast godk heigh strong run behind hold up link up win just well rounded.

  • Joshua Schroer says:

I hope we get Gomez offer Chic & £29m & sell Arnie to get a quick CF I like Ekambi from Villarreal well rounded Sahko like without attitude or injuries. Neal Mapauy, Flrioan Aye, Habid Dialogue worth punt.
*** But one player we should look at hope is on list bc seems we want a strong tall CF is Wout Weghoust I watched him at AZ he moved to Wolfsburg last summer killed most goals debut from Eredivisie & more with 17 & 8 or so assists. At 6’4 he is tall but mobile for size & good with is feet he is 26 not youngest but good age & he has a ridiculous buyout of only €18m. He doesn’t have PL experience but he could be better then Mitrovic & w Fornals Felipe hopefully Wilshere Lanzini & maybe Joan Jordan to set him up deadly in box.
