“They rank as high as any in Wome” | West Ham really are massive

As the terrace song goes, ‘West Ham are massive everywhere we go,’ and now we have the proof via UEFA’s official rankings.

If you’re wondering what I’m prattling on about, UEFA updated their official club ranking this morning and West Ham United has been placed in 16th position.

The Hammers ranked higher than the likes of Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Atalanta, Milan, Napoli, Juventus, and most amusingly, Arsenal, following three years of high achievement in European football.

A huge amount of credit must go to former West Ham manager David Moyes, who orchestrated and oversaw three consecutive European campaigns where the Hammers navigated the group stages with ease. Of course, there was the rather juicy cherry on top of the cake in the form of the Europa Conference League win in Prague. However, much of the ranking would also be based upon the incredibly high level of consistency throughout the club’s recent European campaigns.

West Ham fans often get accused of not appreciating David Moyes and his achievements at the London Stadium, but I think that’s far from the truth and an easy stick to beat Hammers fans with. The majority of supporters I have encountered appreciate the fine work the Scotsman did, even if they did feel it was time for the club to move in a new direction.

The updated UEFA rankings are detailed below.

– Man City
– Real Madrid
– Bayern Munich
– Liverpool
– Roma
– PSG
– Villarreal
– Dortmund
– Chelsea
– Inter
– Leverkusen
– FC Porto
– RB Leipzig
– Man United
– Benfica
WEST HAM UNITED
– Atlético
– Barcelona
– Arsenal
– Atalanta

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

I started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

I give West Ham opinions and interviews on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus. Former video and content creator for West Ham United back in the days of Upton Park. I was lucky enough to feature in the documentary broadcast on that final wonderful game at the Boleyn when Winston Reid broke Manchester United hearts.

I frequently feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

All very nice, but isn’t the REAL status of a club measured by their league placing and what’s sitting in the trophy cabinet ?
