Certain West Ham fans need to bite their tongues on the Carl Jenkinson issue.
The outrage on social network may be understandable but it will do absolutely nothing to help the player through a difficult period.
It needs to stop right now because the torrent of abuse engulfing Jenks is wrong. At a time when he needs support the most he’s getting the opposite.
We had been considering showing some of the remarks currently doing the rounds on Twitter which at tmes resembles an idiots playground.
But we quickly decided against it because whilst constructive criticism is allowable some of the abuse aimed at the lad crosses the line.
None of us can claim to be squeaky clean when it comes to some of the words we use in our distress after a bad result but let’s not single out one individual as the cause of all our problems.
That’s stupid.
The Spurs disaster was a collective disaster and should be treated as such. Let’s get behind the team and the players – anything else is self defeating and wrong.
I guarantee that around half the people abusing him are the same people who were clamouring for him to be signed permanently after last season’s performances. I honestly didn’t believe our fans were so fickle, but some obviously are.
I totally agree. I still think we should try and sign him (if the price is right). His good games far out weigh the bad and there are many worse full backs in the country. He is a great addition to our squad.

Exactly what i was banging on about last season Hugh , the fans can have an effect on the team either positive or negative , we ARE the 12th man ! Spurs have turned over far better sides than us this season . We shouldn’t set our sights too high this season , our recent form shows us to be mid table or thereabouts i reckon , a good start the same as last year but tailing off .
Reviews of the game pointed to failure of selection which left jenkinson exposed with Sahko not tracking back,unfortunately some people think the West Ham Way is bagging individuals .Jenks is best suited as attacking wing back but team needs to be set up to suit and that is not his responsibility.

He was always going to cost us points this season,Slav came here saying he needed better defenders and put money into Obgonna but that was it,
If I open my mouth and get it wrong I admit it but sorry he is a defensive liability and we don’t need wingers we have plenty but Sakho is not one,
If a player wants to stop the abuse he should step up to the mark
Tackle,watch the ball and stop shirt pulling and trying judo throw the player he is marking,
Make himself available for passes from the keeper or players that are struggling to find a simple pass,
Learn to kick with both feet,
And they gave him a pay rise last year
That’s not abuse by the way just a old boy getting frustrated wondering why Oxford with all the ability in the world is sitting watching this clown ( I know we are waiting until he is 30 )
Last season wing backs bombing forward was part of our game plan .. this season its not, this season we need 2 solid full backs who are good at defending.
