Three Hammers enjoy victories

Tomáš Souček, Vladimír Coufal and Lucas Paqueta followed up on a fabulous finale to the West Ham season by enjoying a top Saturday on the international front.

Souček and Coufal both started as Czechia’s completed a h a 3-0 win in the Faroe Islands and have now taken four points from their opening two games

First half goals from Sparta Prague’s Ladislav Krejčí and FC Twente’s Václav Černý put the visitors in total control, before Černý’s second of the game, 15 minutes from time, added gloss to the scoreline.

It means Souček’s 59th and Coufal’s 37th caps were victorious ones with the squad now leading Poland at the head of Group E by four points, albeit having played a game more.

Paquetá in action for Brazil

Paquetá, also featured from the start at Brazil took on Guinea in a friendly match in Barcelona.

The Hammers midfielder played 65 minutes to help his country to a 4-1 success on the occasion of his 41st cap.

By the time he was withdrawn, Brazil led 3-1 thanks to goals from Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton and Real Madrid pair Rodrygo and Éder Militão, the latter assisted by Paquetá.

A late fourth from another Real Madrid star, Vinícius Júnior, completed the scoring.

Elsewhere, Nayef Aguerd was a starter as Morocco suffered a 2-1 defeat to South Africa in qualifying for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
