Nearly 61% of West Ham supporters believe that Manuel Pellegrini should change his tactics when asked in a recent Claret and Hugh poll. Just over 39% believe he should stick with his present tactics and persevere.
On joining West Ham he committed: “I will try to play attacking football and score a lot of goals because, throughout my career, I have always been a manager who plays offensive football and tries to attack. But to attack, you must defend very well also, so we must be a balanced team in West Ham. Last season, they had one of the worst defences in the Premier League, so this year we will try and be balanced while always thinking that we want to score one goal more than the opposition.”
Four games in and Pellegrini’s tactics are not going to plan so far with the manager himself describing it as a very bad start.
One reader replied “Tactics? what tactics? I watched all 4 games so far and I haven’t seen any tactics!! The players do whatever they want and they don’t seem too bothered for the team”
Another said ” I think he needs to stick with a first 11 rather than keep chopping the players in and out. That will help I think.”
Poll Full results: Voted 1,122 Yes (Change tactics) 683 (60.87%) No, stick with tactics 439 (39.13%)
Surely the tactic is to concede less goals than you score…?
We shouldn’t got too wrapped up in formations, tactical theory or line-ups it’s just football.
The best Tactic would be to change the Tactics , and that means only one thing . Would cost £15m though .
4 games in you want him sacked?
I didn’t vote on it because I wasn’t sure seems from the vote that a lot still want to see us with an attacking intent, I certainly do want to see that, Pellegrini wants to see us start competing with the teams at the top of the table, although it means a really tough start to his managerial career with us he is sticking to his principles, if the players can adapt to that then we will genuinely transform into a top 6 team over the next few seasons, if they can’t they will not. Everton will certainly come out and attack us, that is their style under Silva so will be interesting to see how we do against them, Chelsea and Man U. Chelsea and Man U haven’t really changed their style or team dramatically so will probably be a tough ask but Everton are beatable even though no one has yet, all three of those clubs also have far stronger squads than we do so will be a good test.
