Gokhan Tore has been ruled out for the season following surgery on his knee in Germany last week Turkish media are reporting.
West Ham had hoped the 24 year old could return to his parent club in January but now they must write off the loan fee and wages for the remainder of the season.
Tore’s personal doctor Ertuğrul Karanlık has said: ”Gokhan will be fine to play again. We decided not to take any risks. I’m sure he’ll be back stronger. This is a good choice for him to undergo surgery. He’ll have his rehab until the end of the season and after that we’ll see a stronger Tore.”
Turkish website Fanatik also confirms what we already knew that unsurprisingly West Ham have no intention of activating the €10 million buy clause in Tore’s contract.
Tore is likely to carry out his rehabilitation at West Ham only returning to Besiktas after the end of the season. West Ham will be forced to pay the remainder of £2.5m loan fee to Besiktas which it has been paying in installments. It will also pay Tore another £920,000 in wages until the end of May next year. It means that Tore will have cost the Hammers a total of around £4.3m over the whole season or £860,000 per league appearance or nearly £18,000 per min for the 239 minutes he graced us with his presence in the Premier League.
Good luck Tore on your recovery COYI !!!
Shame, i honestly believed he could’ve come through for us
