Video …and this is a player who may be left out!

|

With so many options avaialble let’s remember the contribution made by Manuel Lanzini against Liverpool.

Unbelievably, he may be left out against Newcastle on Monday evening. Tells us a lot about the Hammers of 2015-16.

The way it should be,competition for places, nice problem for Slav to have with so many options this season. We can have a strong bench now with many players who can offer a variety of options. No more Hippo style options, proper attacking variety, not respect the point players 😀

If a player plays a blinder, defends, breaks up play, assists and scores all in one game. How can you reward them by removing them from the team? Would send out the wrong message in my opinion. There has to be some kind of reward. If they play badly then take them out, let someone else have a shot. Jenkinson not playing well, Tomkins takes his chance. Everyone knows where they stand. Tomkins knows if he doesn’t give one hundred percent he will lose his place in the team to jenks. Tomkins at right back has two clean sheets against arsenal and Liverpool. At the moment everyone knows where they stand. Tough decision to leave tomkins or lanzini out of the team on current form.

Lanzini had a man of the match performance in our historic win at Anfield, his early goal set us up for the win, his work-rate, tracking back, trickery and skill was tremendous and I can’t think of a single reason why he should sit on the bench on Monday.
Sometimes it does make sense to make changes even when the team has won.
You might wnat to play a different style at home against a different opposing team.
But even then Lanzini would be the last one I’d consider replacing.
Overall of course it’s fantastic in the first place to have all these quality players fighting for the shirt. I would hope and expect Lanzini to start against Newcastle though.

Hopefully he won’t be, he looks a real handful that can cause trouble whether we are on the front foot or the back foot in any games. It would send the wrong message out to drop players who are playing well and scoring. The new boys will be happy enough for a place on the bench for a few weeks it goes with the territory when you are transferred. Likewise Tompkins should start at RB Jenkinson should wait until we start losing or a cup game before he goes back into the team.

  • NAVAJO quoting Rodney King says:

He needs to start, he proved that against a top (well used to be) side and should be retained.

  • Danny C says:

Lanzini to start, but Slav has so many options who knows.Personally i think he deserves to start after the last game. But different opposition,at home, its what you have a squad for, picking certain players for certain scenarios.Players just have to live with & understand it if they get dropped.Im sure some may be throwing their toys out of their prams by Januarys transfer window though.

I wrote long ago that Lanzini and Payet would light up the Prem. I stick by that. There were doubts as to whether Lanzini could cut it physically….but man of the match… Anfield away?? He’s booted those doubts into touch! This was only his 2nd Prem game! If this is what he can do at the start, just imagine what he could do with greater confidence and a better understanding with team mates. HAPPY DAYS! He absolutely must get a good run or it would be a terrible, terrible waste. He is going to be dynamite! He IS dynamite! It would be a great problem to have if he becomes a marked man….

If we don’t repay players that play brilliantly with them retaining there place in the side then players won’t bother trying and will want to leave the club,
Every player that played against Liverpool deserve to keep their place,
When players don’t perform then replace them and reward their replacements if they take there chance,
You have to reward good performances,
