Craig Dawson is set to face his former teammates at West Ham tomorrow after passing a fitness test for Wolves.
I don’t believe West Ham’s defence has ever fully recovered from losing Dawson. In fact, this season more than ever, the backline has looked leaky, with the Hammers conceding the most goals of any team not in the relegation zone—an incredible and concerning statistic.
Not many would have believed that David Moyes‘ loan signing from Watford would have had such a great impact on West Ham. There is a certain irony to the club’s best defender in recent years also being the cheapest.

‘Big Daws’ as his team mates used to call him never really wanted to leave West Ham. His exit was because of private family reasons which required him to set up home in the midlands. The club and the player departed of good terms and I’m sure he’s much appreciated by Hammers fans.
So, tomorrow should see the Dawsonator, or “Virgil Van Dawson” as some call him, come up against ‘The Beast’ in Michail Antonio. It should be as captivating as it is destructive.
