Perhaps showing the scarcity of talent available to him these days, Germany’s national team manager has struggled in this international break: You may well have missed it but the Germans have failed to win either of their two games this Autumn break, with a 1- 1 draw against the Netherlands followed by a 0-1 loss to Dinos Mavropanos‘ Greece.
Which has set the alarm bells ringing in Jurgen Klopp’s outfit. Goals are clearly missing, with Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala both absent and latest striker, Eintracht Frankfurt forward Younes Ebnoutalib, failing to make an impact last time out.
The newly appointed Klopp is discovering life back in management is far from a bed of roses.
Which has led to claims that West Ham’s veteran Niclas Fullkrug could be in line for yet another come back to the international stage at the age of 33, according to insidefutbol.com:
“West Ham United loanee Niclas Fullkrug could emerge as Jurgen Klopp’s attacking reinforcement for the Germany national team amid the ongoing injury crisis.”
“According to German daily TZ, Fullkrug could be a potential solution for Klopp as Germany look to navigate their injury crisis….It is understood that soon-to-be German Football Association managing director Per Mertesacker is making a case for the West Ham loanee to return to the squad after his red-hot form with Werder Bremen.”
Incredibly, Niclas Fullkrug may be pulling on his countries’ colours once again.
News of which will be received with a certain amount of relief inside West Ham: Fullkrug departedt on a last-chance loan deal this summer when Bremen picked him up for no cost and the player himself took a salary cut to get out of London.
By the time the loan ends, Werder Bremen could have a fully-fledged current international on their hands – with whom they will most definitely not want to part come May next year.
All of which adds to the price ticket for Bremen to sign him permanently. Something of a turn around for the West Ham flop who couldn’t make it through a month without a spell on the treatment table.
