West Ham Winger Austbø Provides Assist as Norway Qualify for Euros
West Ham winger Edvin Austbø started and provided an assist as Norway Under-21s beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 6–1 on Tuesday evening to secure their place at the European Championship.
Bosnia took an early lead, but Sindre Walle Egeli equalised after 14 minutes. Austbø then set up Egeli’s second just before half-time to put Norway ahead.
The hosts added four more goals after the break, with Egeli completing his hat-trick. Austbø was replaced in the 85th minute.
Austbø Makes His Mark for Norway
The result follows Friday’s goalless draw with the Netherlands, when Austbø played 62 minutes. We wrote earlier about why his availability matters to West Ham with Manor Solomon in particular – alongside Dinos Mavropanos – facing heavy international workloads.
Austbø’s contribution last night also offered a glimpse of the chance creation Nils Koppen said West Ham signed him to provide, and will certainly have enhanced his ‘starting’ credentials after the international break when several of West Ham;s players- Solomon included- will return after four full games in ten days.
