With Nuno revealing his likely injury situation ahead of tomorrow’s 3pm clash against West Bromwich Albion, the West Ham manager has opened up the possibility of there being a smidgeon of an opportunity for unwanted loanee Adama Boiro.

The 24 year old has so far featured for just 13 minutes – which, for a left back boasting Champions League experience, is not what his parent club Athletic would have been expecting when Boiro joined the Irons on deadline day to compensate for the loss of El Hadji Malick Diouf – who was sold to Brentford the week before.

Reports just last week suggested Nuno wanted to terminate Boiro’s loan early, the explanation being given to Claret and Hugh being “that Boiro has unfortunately failed to meet the standards expected since arriving at the club.”.

Adama Boiro joined West Ham on a season-long loan from Athletic Club with an option to buy.

West Ham would like to terminate the deal for Adama Boiro – and yet they might need him on the bench tomorrow

However – Nuno’s admission this afternoon that Joel Veltman is still struggling could yet see a reprieve for Boiro who must have been wondering how to fill his Saturdays in east London.

No Veltman means the Hammers will be short of a second defender if, as expected Mavropanos misses the game: Boiro could yet find himself on the bench, much to his own surprise.

It may be the last time the young man appears in a Nuno squad, with the left back being readied just in case match circumstances might require his participation for defensive cover if Scarles or Morato are used in Dinos Mavropanos’ absence.

However with the Irons keen to terminate his loan early, it may well be that  if he doesn’t get onto the pitch tomorrow, Boiro merely becomes one of the answers to a West Ham trivia quiz question relating to players with the shortest West Ham careers.

I still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows another six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser.
Can tell I'm getting old knowing I watched both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
