With West Ham publicly insisting they were reluctant to part with any of their key players this summer, it still always felt inevitable that a few departures would materialise. To be fair, the Hammers banked solid fees for Fernandes and Summerville, while Potts, not even listed among the club’s core assets, surprisingly brought in another £10m.
Even so, the window’s final stretch is shaping up to be even busier. With Todibo, Füllkrug and Wan-Bissaka all heading for the exit, and the latter, in my opinion, arguably falling into the “key player” category himself, attention now turns to Diouf as the next likely departure.
Brentford Prepare Improved Diouf Bid
Brentford already tested the waters with a derisory bid earlier in the transfer window, but they’re preparing to return with a £35m offer plus £5m in add-ons. Diouf was granted extended leave after World Cup duty, yet in the final pre-season fixtures and again in the Carabao Cup opener it was Ollie Scarles who stepped in as the first-team option. That selection speaks volumes: Nuno clearly expects the Senegal international to be playing his football elsewhere before the window shuts.
Another Left-Back Could Be Required
So it looks like more money is coming into the club. Let’s hope Koppen and Nuno use it wisely – what it does mean is an additional left-back will be required, unless Ezra Mayers steps in as back-up to Scarles, to free up funds to use elsewhere.

Diouf must stay…he is our only FB that can cross a ball.
How times have changed. Brentford taking our best players While we are struggling to find 5 million to sign someone Would have been the other way round not to many years ago Disgraceful
I would be really disappointed to sell Diouf, there is an amazing player in there for the next ten years. His crossing in the championship onto Taty could be devastating. To Brentford as well, shows how far we have fallen.
Veltman will be first choice RB,
KWP is competent at LB.
Scarles as cover..KWP pivots covering either flank as and when required.
Diouf being sold to provide contributing funds for central defence, midfielder and CF.
Let’s hope that a bidding war ensues and it drives the price north of £40m.
Brentford now bigger club than us, that seemed impossible 3 years ago. So Upton Park at say 40,000 would be too small a ground to compete, looking at Bournemouth, Brighton & Brentford we lost our great football ground for just a frustrating mess
Take the money. Scarlet and Myers can cope.
Fails to put my comments on Again
The club is a joke they said we don’t need to sell anyone 50000 season tickets sold just look what we have bought in and sold you’ve all been took on buy chairman promotion I don’t think so
Ollie Scarlet played because Diouf had only trained for a week….
if they thought he was leaving, why would they cup tie him for the last 10 mins if a game..
Sell Diouf
Diouf cannot be on big wages so i see no reason why we should let him go even for £40million i mean i very much doubt we have a back up plan to some other defender unless of course they are drawing a pension and we can get them for a bargain.
