The transfer of Reiss Nelson from Arsenal to West Ham has been described as “90% done” by a top source speaking exclusively to Claret & Hugh this lunchtime.

The Gunners winger was linked with a move to the London Stadium a couple of days ago, but talks appear to have progressed quickly and there is now a high likelihood that Nelson will be appearing in claret and blue this season.

Our source informed us:

“The Nelson deal is 90% done, everything agreed with the player. The medical might be a different issue though.”

West Ham quickly adding winger depth

The news means West Ham are immediately creating back-up in the wide areas following the signing of Manor Solomon from Tottenham yesterday.

It also follows earlier reports of West Ham’s interest in Nelson, with negotiations seemingly having moved quickly since then.

The big irony with this transfer is that, much like Solomon, Nelson has had more than his fair share of injuries.

It would appear the Hammers medical team are going to have their work cut out this season to keep everybody fit.

On the plus side, the Arsenal man should be more than good enough for Championship football if he can remain fit.

At this stage, it is understood that terms have been agreed with the player, while Arsenal are keen to get his significant salary off their books with Nelson having a year remaining on his contract in North London.

The warning about the medical is clearly worth keeping an eye on, but as things stand, C&H have been told the deal is 90% done.
