West Ham United are reportedly closing in on the signing of 21-year-old midfielder Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough, according to recent chatter from news outlets

What with David Moyes‘ potential departure and the underwhelming loan spell of Kalvin Phillips, West Ham desperately needs reinforcements in central midfield. Edson Alvarez also requires quality competition.

Hackney has shone under Michael Carrick’s guidance at Middlesbrough this season. His comfort on the ball, passing ability, and composure make him a promising prospect.

In his Championship appearances, Hackney boasts an impressive average of 75.8 passes per game with an 87.9% completion rate. He’s been praised by manager Carrick, who called him a “shining light” for the club.

Reports suggest West Ham is prepared to offer a hefty £18 million for Hackney. While this could prove a smart investment down the line, some will consider it a risky amount for an unproven Premier League player.

Perhaps a £10-12 million price tag would be more reasonable for Hackney’s current experience level. However, he does look like a potentially excellent signing

We lose out on potential good players by hagerling on price is it not time we trust our judgement and pay the price to secure talented players – yes we will get some wrong but the current recruitment team have a good record – trust their judgement .

Not a chance for getting him for 18m, try making it 30m and perhaps Boro will open talks. Boro have stuck to their guns the last couple of seasons with low ball offers.

If Gibson sells yet another of our star players I’m done with boro it happens every season if he can’t afford to run the club without cashing in every year then sell it to someone who can

Absolute rubbish. If Haydon leave Boro it would never be for West Ham for 10 to 12 Mil this article is trash
