It is the night of the West Ham player awards at the London Hilton hotel in Park Lane, London. Hammers fan Ray Winstone has already been on stage singing a rendition of Bubbles and now Slaven Bilic has got up on stage to speak to the 1,000 guests paying up to £330 per head to be there tonight.
Slav told the audience “I have loved this season. We expected it to be good. We knew we had potential. I spoke to my staff and with a bit of luck we knew we had a chance. Sam left me a good team and well organised squad. Beating Spurs at home was special. It is about the journey we have had. At the start we signed Dimi Payet and other good players. When you ask me the highlights there are so many. We beat some big teams at the start.I know we will do everything we can to win the final three games. The best moment for me was being so strong and solid. We didn’t look like we would get beat.
Claret and Hugh will bring you news of the winners as they are announced this evening so check back soon.
First West Ham award of the night up is the Best Team Performance which goes to the match against Everton away with that great come-back after being 2-0 down on 77 minutes but scoring three goals in 13 minutes to win the game 3-2.
Darren Randolph has deservedly won Save of the Season for his triple save against Liverpool
Reece Oxford wins the Young Hammer of the Year won by Reece Burke last year.
The Dylan Tombides award for the West Ham Academy player of the year goes to Declan Rice
First West Ham player award of the night for Dimitri Payet as he picks up the top goal-scorer award with twelve goals this season. The first of many times up to the stage tonight I am sure.
A special award this year for the Greatest Boleyn Ground Goal goes to Paolo DiCanio for that volley against Wimbledon
Sir Geoff Hurst has been awarded this year’s life-time achievement award on the 50 year anniversary on the 1966 world cup
“I am honoured to be given this award from this fantastic football club. The only regret I had was not seeing my time out with the club. I would like to have done that. But it was a great time for the club.I was very lucky to play with some great players like Bobby Moore. He was an inspirational player.” Sir Geoff Hurst
