West Ham ref watch

|

vardyThe referee panel at teamtalk.com have concluded referee Jon Moss got four crucial decisions wrong yesterday. The panel agreed that Moss was correct to send off Jamie Vardy for diving and said that the late penalty conceded by Andy Carroll was wrong. However, they did concede Moss missed three earlier penalties shouts that should have been awarded. Two for Leicester and one for West Ham.

Leicester penalty appeal v West Ham No 1: Angelo Ogbonna had Jamie Vardy in a headlock and could, and should have conceded a spot-kick. But Vardy’s decision to wrestle his opponent back likely meant the referee judged it six of one, half a dozen of the other. However….Verdict: Incorrect decision

West Ham penalty appeal v Leicester: Robert Huth was lucky not to concede a penalty when he caught Winston Reid with his forearm to block his opponent reaching a set-piece delivery into the box. The ball ended up in Kasper Schmeichel’s grasp from which Leicester quickly countered and scored the opener. Verdict: Incorrect decision

Jamie Vardy red card v West Ham: The Leicester striker, already on a yellow card for a foul on Cheikhou Kouyate, was given his second caution of the match for simulation in trying to win his side a penalty. While there may have been a slight tangle of legs with Ogbonna, we feel referee Jonathan Moss was absolutely correct to book the Foxes striker, who paid a heavy price for trying to con the official. Verdict: Correct decision

West Ham penalty v Leicester: After plenty of argy-bargy ahead of a corner into the box, Moss awarded the Hammers a spot-kick when he adjudged Wes Morgan to have pushed Winston Reid in the area. The Foxes skipper, despite his protestations, can have absolutely no complaints, and although replays showed Reid certainly made the most of the contact, the fact that he’d both pulled and pushed by his opponent ensured the ref had little choice. Amazingly, the penalty was the first West Ham had won in the Premier League away from home in five-and-a-half years. Verdict: Correct decision

Leicester penalty appeal v West Ham No 2: Robert Huth felt he should have been given a spot-kick when he was wrestled to the ground by that man Ogbonna again. It must have been the Hammers defender’s lucky day, as for the second time in the match, our panel all agreed he’d gotten away with one. If the Reid incident at the other end was a penalty, then we felt, this should have been too. Verdict: Incorrect decision

Leicester penalty v West Ham: Leicester did eventually win a spot-kick they probably felt was deserved when Jeff Schlupp went down in the area under a challenge from Andy Carroll. While there was a coming together between the players, the Hammers man was merely stronger than his opponent and contact did not warrant a spot-kick. Maybe the ref had previous decisions on his mind when he pointed to the spot, but two (or three) wrongs certainly don’t make a right. Verdict: Incorrect decision

Firstly I have to disagree about some of the pens

1)Leicester penalty appeal v West Ham No 1. As like others, Vardy pushed up against Oggy and started pushing him around, it was him that instigated it and he committed a foul BEFORE Oggy fell. fell still attached to Vardy I may add who was trying to create something from nothing. Also not forgetting that they were pushing and pulling for 90 minutes.

2)West Ham penalty appeal v Leicester: Clear penalty, Moss was looking right at the incident with an unrestricted view. The triple blow was they countered and scored, Huth should have seen red and West ham would have had the lead.

3)Jamie Vardy red card v West Ham: Slightly harsh, first booking was never a booking but may of been for intent, as he got away with one earlier. But the second is clear simulation and stupid, he got his rewards. If it was up to me it would be a straight red for diving anyway

4)West Ham penalty v Leicester: This for me was 3 penalties. Reid went over easy, but still was pushed (More a foul than their late equaliser!) But the ref twice spoke to Morgan and Huth to stop pushing grabbing shoving etc. Why did he do that, if it’s a foul, it’s a foul, why should they have 2 warnings? So thats 2 pens instead of being spoken too and the pen for the Reid push

5)Leicester penalty appeal v West Ham No 2: Not a pen. Huth was manhandling all game, a long ball was thrown in and he was wrestling with Kouyate. He missed the flight of the ball and pushed back onto Oggy. look at Ogbonna’s position, he is not challenging the ball and Huth is leaning backwards at him. From the front you can see Oggys hand and it is loose against Huth, not pushing him or pulling him. Like Vardy earlier, this was instigated by Huth, trying to con the ref

6)Leicester penalty v West Ham: Not a pen. like Vardy x2 and huth, the Leicester player picked up the ball and ran at West ham. If you look at the camera from behind the goal, stills show he leant and ran INTO Carroll, all Carroll did was carry on running straight. before contact with Carroll Slipupp started falling.

Not looking at this with claret and blue glasses, as Moss had a shocker and could have given them some things as well. As Shearer said on MOTD2 he lost control and that is so true, he was all over the place so inconsistent, could easily of sent off more players, just pot luck it was Vardy.

I see Ranieri says he never complains about referees. I bet he doesn’t. Why would anyone complain about something that’s working so well for them

  • Billy the Hammer says:

Lmao, just when I thought the Wetpants couldn’t get any worse now they are all in for selling Payet, lol, haha.Well a fair few.Incredible, what a bunch of W#nkers, always got to blame a different player each week & now they want to sell Dimi.#Losttheplot 😀

  • TysonM says:

Yeah because these are the same geezers that were going to sell Randolph,Antonio,Ogbonna & Obiang after watching them for one game or less, lol.Hmmm, yep, good judges of a olayer. Wtf would you want to sell a player who has scored & assisted so many goals this season even for £50 million.Which ain’t going to happen anyway.Lunatics.

  • mattefumi27 says:

ahah… Lmao… Please Billy and Ty, don’t underestimate the power of thei minds, I’m sure Wetpants are planning something special… Using the Dimi sales proceeds we can buy 26 players… I know the experts of the other site are monitoring young talent from North Pole, Burundi, Hawaii, Mongolia and Liechtenstein… I can assure you we are in excellent hands… lol 😀

The main mistake was the first pen appeal Read being pulled down should have been a yellow for Huth and a 1 goal lead for un and Vardy would not have scored 30 seconds later from the break away,
The game would have been totally different and we were the better side at the time,
    That was the game changer,
As for Wetpants,I went over there 2 months ago to try and talk about football on 4 separate occasions, got blanked by most and not much response from others,
Because I was lonely and all the top boys on here had left for a while thinking our job was done with the removal of the Fat One,
But your all back plus a few banned wetties who like to talk sense about football
Making our site even better and turning the Ladies site into a bigger joke,
Can’t understand some of the better guys on there sticking it out,
The 4 players you have mentioned Ty plus Cresswell,Lanzini,Payet, are going to make the backbone of our side for the next 5 years, sorry plus my man Kouyate,
Who for me is still our most consistent player every game,

  • bubs says:

That picture above should get Vardy another game out at least and blow Leicester,s league chances out of the water,
Need the Spuds to blow it tonight,

  • Billy the Hammer says:

BubsTy,Matte, one of your old buddies was on here this morning saying hello to you all.The Lama who I guess is Rads.Anyway he left a message on an article lower down boys.

  • Budgefett says:

I’d be interested to know what Casper Schmeichel was saying to the camera as he left the pitch. I could only make out a few words but it looked like he was really laying into the ref. Are there any lip readers on here?

  • Billy the Hammer says:

He was saying the ref was a f#cking joke from what I could see.Kept repeating it over & over, lol

  • mattefumi27 says:

I don’t know what Schmeichel was saying to the camera, but I I’m pretty sure Vardy in this photo is saying “You were right mate, I deserve the red card and that was a clear penalty! Mr Moss, forgive me…”lol 😀
