Another of West Ham’s trophy-winning players from the summer of 2023 could be departing the club for free next summer as his West Ham contract is quietly running down and will expire at the end of this Championship season.
Signed in 2022 from Paris St Germain for £7.75 million on a five year deal, Alphonse Areola initially shared goal keeping duties with Lucas Fabianski but now finds himself behind Mads Hermansen in the pecking order at West Ham United.

One of the highest earners at the club, Areola’s contract in the Premier League was worth an enormous £120,000 a week before the relegation clause dropped his earnings by half: Despite vanishing from the radar this season, Areola is still costing the Hammers £240k a month despite not appearing since pre-season.
The former French number three can leave east London for free next summer when his contract expires: You’d think it unlikely that West Ham would want to extend his deal by the extra one year option which they hold on his, along with many other first team player contracts.
Reports of a rift between Nuno and Areola have been downplayed by the club who stress that the goal keeper is back in full training and could feature soon enough. It seems highly likely, though, that he’ll not see the Premier League again as a West Ham United player as his contract ticks down.

I like our manager Tony, but I do understand your concerns. Without 100% correct info coming out of our club we will never really know the truth behind the rumours. Areolas not been our best but I think he has served us well over the years. This season is long, I think we will need his experience to get back to the prem.
Areola would be choice as no 1 especially in this league with no var more dominant in corner and free kicks hermanson just stays on he’s line hoping the defence clear the ball
In fairness we don’t know whether or not Nuno and Areola don’t get on personally. Rumours and speculations in the media and on the internet need to be taken with a pinch of salt until & unless corroborated. Nevertheless favouritism and antagonism in the workplace are all too common. Plenty of people get promotions because they are liked and their brown nosing comes up to scratch. Conversely plenty of people are overlooked or sidelined because they are not particularly liked on a personal level. No doubt football is no exception. It would be unfortunate if any team’s performance is compromised because of selection factors other than playing performance and contribution. But human nature being what it is no doubt this does happen at every club, as it does in every office, shop floor etc etc.
I honestly don’t like this manager.

In life you should ignore your own feelings and apply your professional judgement without allowing Personal feelings to interfere.
You can dislike or not get on with people within the working environment. look beyond your own feelings and see the attributes that people bring.
Areola brings more than our last two keepers .
