West Ham starting XI: The peoples choice

The results from the West Ham player selection survey are in with 244 Claret and Hugh readers submitting their entries.

Darren Randolph has been given the goalkeeper role with 231 votes with Fabianski rested with just 10 votes for the FA Cup clash against Stockport County.

Ben Johnson 208 votes Issa Diop 222 Fabian Balbuena 143 votes and Ryan Fredericks 152 have been chosen for the defence with Johnson covering the left back role but it must be noted Fredericks is unlikely to play because of COVID.

Aaron Cresswell 54 votes,  Angelo Ogbonna 30 votes,  Craig Dawson 112 votes and Vladimir Coufal  35 votes have been rested. Young centre back Ali Alse with 34 votes also missed out.

Mark Noble 191 votes and Pablo Fornals 141 votes are in front of the defenders with Tomas Soucek on 68 votes and Delcan Rice on 85 votes given a rest.

In midfield Andriy  Yarmolenko 214 votes, Said Benrahma 217 votes, Manuel Lanzini 205 votes and Conor Coventry 105 votes chosen with Michail Antonio 64 votes, Jarrod Bowen 87 votes given a rest and Harrison Ashby not making the grade with just 40 votes.

    I agree with my fellow readers in giving some players a rest – for the chosen players I would have Connor Coventry in midfield to give it some more legs and perhaps Fornals further forward – but is Coventry actually fit for the game – the last I heard he was out with a long term injury? It would be good to have him back and providing some backup for Rice and Soucek in midfield
