Former West Ham transfer target William Carvalho will join Inter Milan on a free transfer after the World Cup claim the Italian media today.
The report believes he’ll sign a £2.5m-per-year deal at the San Siro despite being heavily linked with West Ham and Everton in the past.
Carvalho along with seven other players have cancelled their contracts with Sporting Lisbon after masked fans attacked their training ground upset at the team’s performance during the season.
Sporting Lisbon still retains the registration for the players which is a requirement to play in the World Cup and it remains to seen whether Sporting Lisbon would allow over £100m of players on their books to walk away for free without any legal challenge.
West Ham became embroiled in a bitter and public war of words last September over a £22m bid for Carvalho while Sporting Lisbon president wanted £35m. West Ham may end up with the last laugh as Sporting Lisbon end up with nothing unless they are prepared to fight in the courts to defend their right to received compensation.
Premier League newcomers Wolves have signed Portugal goalkeeper Rui Patricio. The 30-year-old was one of seven Sporting players who last week terminated their own contracts. He has joined on a four-year deal, subject to international clearance.
Might have dodged a bullet with Carvalho. Any substance to the rumour that Antonio will be sold?
I’d prefer to see Carvalho playing in Italy than West Ham pay £35mil and £20mil in wages on a ‘decent’ but not much more player……
From what i’ve watched in his last two games, we’ve had a right result.
