West Ham United‘s transfer window is in full swing. With a multitude of targets across various positions, the club is determined to build a squad capable of competing under Julen Lopetegui‘s leadership.
Reports suggest West Ham is targeting as many as seven new signings this summer. To facilitate these acquisitions, technical director Tim Steidten is exploring potential player sales to supplement the reported £100 million transfer budget.
Lopetegui’s reputation for demanding investment and harbouring ambition has undoubtedly influenced the club’s transfer strategy. This approach has instilled confidence in the West Ham fanbase and is reflected in the ambitious targets being pursued.
West Ham is reportedly locked in a three-way battle with Newcastle United and Aston Villa to acquire Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe. Additionally, Portuguese attacker Jota Silva seems on the verge of joining the Hammers.
The club is actively looking to bolster its backline. RB Salzburg’s French centre-back Oumar Solet, available at a reduced price due to his contract situation, is a target. England striker Ivan Toney remains linked, but Brentford’s hefty asking price might be a stumbling block.
Talks are ongoing with Juventus regarding a potential deal for highly-rated young Argentine winger Matias Soule. West Ham is also showing interest in free agent left-back Ryan Sessegnon.
In a surprising turn of events, Youssef En-Nesyri, who previously rejected West Ham’s advances twice, has reportedly changed his mind and is now open to a move to the London Stadium.
The Hammers haven’t limited their focus. They are linked with several other players, including centre-backs Jake O’Brien (Lyon), Max Kilman (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Jayden Oosterwolde (Fenerbahce), Riccardo Calafiori (Bologna), David Hancko (Feyenoord) and Nehuen Perez (Udinese).
Sunderland winger Jack Clarke and former Celtic youngster Karamoko Dembele are also reportedly back on West Ham’s radar. Striker Jonathan David (Lille) is another target, but faces competition from Manchester United. Inter Milan’s Carlos Augusto could be an option if Emerson Palmieri leaves West Ham. Hull’s Jaden Philogene and Braga’s Simon Banza are the latest names linked to the club.
A very busy time ahead!
No longer buying the Jota Silva link. At the price quoted, I’m sure that would be over the line by now if were serious.
My username tells you when I first started following West Ham. I believe it when I see the announcement, until then it’s only for entertainment purposes.
Another life long 50yr + hammers supporter everything is rumour and conjecture until they sign on the dotted line. Too early to panic give the new boys time Moyes has gone so even for that very reason I have more hope.
Hammerpete6 & others:
That sums up exactly what I feel. I agree, let the dealing go on behind the scenes & tell us about it when a player HAS signed for us. Banding all these names & rumours about is, in a way, cruel on us !
I have similar credentials (1962) and must say I do get fed up with the noise and speculation with no resulting signings annoying. It seems we are in for everyone, but then suddenly so are others, then the bubble bursts. Wouldn’t it be great if the signings were just announced as a done deal. My grandson enlightened me about clickbait! To Tim and Julen – just do it! To Sully, just be realistic and back them financially please, and stop the lowball offers.
Let’s get transfers done early to blend preseason etc we need to push on
I’m in same bracket (age)and I have absolutely no belief in any of this media noise
I also qualify as an older supporter (since 1964) and a cynical and pessimistic follower, however I live in hope that there will be significant incomings this window without selling any of the handful of quality players. Just for once Sullivan keep your promises and your bulging wallet open. COYI
Must be geriatric night. First game I watched 1958. John Dick was the one I followed.
Please remember the these days contracts are anything but simple. From the player, the teams and the agents getting their pound of…
Then we have websites looking for clicks and regurgitate ad nauseum.
Let the guys do their stuff. If they don’t want to come cutoff contact. Move on to what’s best for West Ham. ONLY.
I might agree with mibatch, but as a supporter – also of around 70 years – I am not confident that any of the names mentioned will actually sign for West Ham. We keep being told that the club will have to act quickly to sign this player, or that, but nothing happens. I am actually quite worried as to who we will sign, & how good they will be. As ever, time will tell. You cannot support West Ham for 70 years without becoming very pessimistic about the team. Are my worries well placed ?
You should be worried old cobber same age as you and seen it all before too unfortunately I can’t see to much changing but where there’s hope??
As an elderly supporter of some 7 decades i am well used to being upset when we were fed ‘star’ names throughout many window and then find that they either turned us down or signed elsewhere just before the close date. Synical maybe but Sully kept his millions and then forgot to release them at the next window so we started from scratch each time. This time feels different and even exciting, please God!!! A totally different management structure and things maybe will bring the club onto th edges of the Big Boys in the near future. COYH
