West Ham Transfers: Hammers Triple Bid For ‘Unrealistic’ Targets

West Ham have made what has been described as three ambitious enquiries for top-level players, Claret & Hugh has learned today.

Quite how this aligns with the club’s ongoing narrative of being “skint” and close to breaching PSR rules remains unclear. However, a trusted transfer insider has confirmed that all three targets are Champions League-calibre players.

The first name is Samu Omorodion Aghehowa, the Porto striker who was previously on West Ham’s radar. As Claret & Hugh revealed last month, the Spanish forward remains a player of interest — but Porto’s €80m valuation puts him well beyond the Hammers’ current budget.

The identities of the other two players are being closely guarded, but it’s understood that one is a striker earning over £200k per week — another indicator of the high level of ambition, albeit unrealistic.

This would ordinarily be where we get accused of putting out stories to encourage season ticket sales. But this news has not come from the club and our source isn’t suggesting we’ll sign top players . . . they’re telling C&H it won’t happen.

Our source told us: “West Ham definitely have interest in some big players, as seen with the final bid for Jonathan David.”

They added: “It’s certainly ambitious, but given the state of the club, they’re never going to entice them. These are top players who want to play in Europe and earn big money.”

Despite the financial uncertainty, West Ham continue to prioritise a new striker and central midfielder this summer, with manager Graham Potter and recruitment chief Kyle Macaulay tasked with reshaping the squad.

Whether the Hammers are writing cheques they’re unable to cash is uncertain. But clearly West Ham can’t be brassic AND bidding for top players at the same time so only time will tell.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

Today 8thMay …I’m reading that the club does have funds..which they have found .??? for summer signings
is this C&H leading us up the garden path with false information …about no money for Potter and must sell before buying
. At the moment it’s hard to know who .. or what to believe ….

If this hasn’t come from the club and almost certainly won’t happen why bother to print it.

Same old same old. Its starting early this year. We tried to sign big players but they went elsewhere. No chance of signing anyone the way the club is going.

  • David says:

We can afford to buy if we sell and as you’ve been posting for some time, we will be selling some bigger value players, including Kudus.

It’s the same bs year in year out when it’s this time of the season.
Always linked with players we’ve got zero chance of getting whilst the players that we should be going after get snapped up by yer Brightons, Brentfords and Bournemouths, honestly sick and tired of the way this Mickey Mouse club is run.
We go after Jonathan David, jesus we couldn’t even sign Craig David.
We are still run like a Circus and I genuinely fear for us next season.

I wonder if we’re in ‘Bulls**t Season’ yet?

  • Kenny Irons says:

How do a lot smaller clubs than West Ham, I.e Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford, Fulham, Palace, manage to scout, identify & sign excellent players who are not Billy Big B******s ?
There is something fundamentally wrong with this club. We either bid for players who are so far up their own a**e they just come for the pound note, or players who are frankly not up to standard. Why can’t we identify and sign the next Bryan Mbuemo, Evanilson or Eze ?
We need a board who know football, Sullivan and his bunch of clowns are clueless and we’ll never move forward while they drag us down. It’s simply not good enough !

    • Martin61 says:

Potter and Macaulay will be looking for the next Mbuemo etc……..let’s guess who will be making unacceptable low ball offers for big names, costing us time in being able to sign young up and coming players.
