West Ham update Moyes position and sack looms

|

CandH Exclusive by Hughie Southon

David Moyes is getting close to the sack.

And that comes from the top at West Ham United where a key source made it clear to Claret and Hugh this morning that time is running out for the geezer despite claiming earlier that he would remain in charge and even could lead the team into next season.

Last night’s defeat was the most embarrassing in many years – even worse than the appalling showing at Brighton.

And in a poll published here yesterday over 5,000 Irons diehards in a poll organised by @westhamfootball on twitter made it clear they wanted him gonewhen asked who they wanted to take us into next season. He got just nine per cent of the votes!

He won’t be sacked before Saturday but when we asked our key contact if he was to remain in chargeĀ  we were told “Yes, but I’m talking short term”

That’s the first time the club has come close to admitting his days are almost at an end but have yet to respond on who they may be considering.

Meanwhile Moyes himself admitted last night: “‘I am a big boy,’ said Moyes. ‘I’ve left jobs at other times and if this one happens I will have to take that. I’ve enjoyed my time greatly and I still hope there are days ahead of us.’

That’s all we hear from the board we are going to give him a little more time.
In the end there will be so few games left that it will be too late.
I still remember them doing this in the 2010-11 season with Avram Grant and look what happened there?
I know a lot of fans are so frustrated with this.

5 non attendees and 5 non renewals. Well done David.

  • Chunk says:

Short term I would let Paul Nevin and Nolan take charge. Long term, my personal choice would be Will Still but would happily settle for Potter or Rodgers.

  • Tez knows says:

Such weak indecisive leadership from the top.

This blundering along giving him another game each time. It’s pathetic .

    To be clear

    IT’S NOT WORKING

put him out if his misery for god’s sake !

Wouldn’t we better off with a Caretaker Manager until the end of the Season. HARRY !!!

Last night was the worst game I had ever seen. Times for moyes to go.No idea last night and the team need to understand it was as bad as it has ever got.

We don’t have stability, we have stagnancy. The Board say carry on, you can bet Moyes won’t change, he will play the same team again at the weekend. Despite the fact that all 60k fans can see it, he can’t see that Soucek is struggling and not worth his place, and he can’t just play Ings up front on his own. We have to win four, most likely are those around us, and three are away. Moyes is sleepwalking to relegation because he just doesn’t do change. We loyal fans don’t deserve this.

  • Martin61 says:

I think it is a disgrace he still plays Soucek. Forget the pure football reasons (playing badly, Downes looks much better and team looks better with Downes in for him) but Soucek’s Co firenze looks rock bottom, as does his team mates confidence in him. He must dread seeing the team sheet, take him out of the firing line and give him a chance to get back to somewhere near his best at the training ground. He looks broken and Moyse is not helping him or the tram in picking him. Most fans I talk to feel sorry for Soucek rather than anger at him.

I can’t believe I’ve just read someone on here claiming we need 4 wins . What a lot of nonsense 3 would be enough. 2 wins and 3 draws would also do it . These sides around us ain’t pulling up any trees either. When Moyes goes and he will. you will see a completely different side Moyes has turned the side into a mirror image of himself no bottle and wracked in fear .
